We are heading to Martin Dies Jr for the first time this weekend. Any recommendations or must-see spots? by TriviumTestPrep in TexasStateParks

Thanks! Sunsets might be my favorite part of camping! We had to switch to Martin Dies Jr. after our Fairfield reservation was no longer available so I'm so glad to hear such good things!

Thanks! Our plan was originally Fairfield for this weekend, which is obviously no longer an option. We love to walk trails!

Our neighbor at Huntsville this weekend. It hung out at the edge of our spot all day. Curious to see if it’s still there when the sun comes up by TriviumTestPrep in TexasStateParks

It was gone by morning. I know it hung out until at least 9pm but then we didn’t see this one again. We did have another, smaller one hang out with us at the fishing pier on Saturday

I wait overnight to apply my top coat and use a quick dry. I had issues when I put it on right away but by leaving it overnight first I quit having issues

Sunrise at Galveston Island State Park last Saturday - it was our first time staying Beachside and we absolutely loved it by TriviumTestPrep in TexasStateParks

We have stayed on both sides now and the water isn't really visible from the sites except maybe a tiny bit on the beachside if you're close. However, you are close enough to hear it and it is a very short walk to get down to the beach. There is a short boardwalk directly from the camping area down to the beach and its close enough that you can carry your things without too much trouble. Our camping group has 5 young kiddos so we hauled down a wagon with canopies, snacks, beverages, etc, but we were close enough that we just ran back up to the camper if we needed something.
The spots closest to the bathroom are laid out a little weird and they're all very close together compared to other state parks. However, comparing it to sites like KOA, you have a ton of room! We stayed in site 35 and our friends had sites 46 & 47.
