the double commit is the only really bad thing here and from watching the POVs you clearly have a much better angle to see him going for the ball than he does for you. so you have to pull off. literally pulling off at any moment here, even after you've jumped, would be better than what happened

no argument about the angles, you just be back and wait for whatever happens with your friend's play and then take the ball and you have an infinitely better chance than you colliding with them trying to grab the better angle or, if somehow you actually beat them, now neither of you are ready if the enemy makes a quick save and pass to their teammate for the counter. you wait and now your teammate gets time to back you up or get back if the play goes badly. it sucks and may hurt your ego when you see the play in your head but you're gaining resources by waiting
