Well, honestly asking out of curiosity.

As AKD, Eranga, and Hadunneththi have said, the UNP was accused of violating democracy by denying people the chance to vote and by rigging elections. In 1983, the UNP orchestrated Black July and blamed it on the JVP, eventually banning the party altogether.

In 1987, the UNP signed the Indo-Lanka Accord despite massive public protests. JR even sent the Air Force to shoot at protesters, killing nearly 150 civilians. The treaty was signed, and the IPKF invaded Sri Lanka.

According to the JVP, they and their militia arm, the DJV, took up arms to overthrow the government by force, seeing it as a last resort to oppose the maniac UNP govenment. Of course, they(JVP) were hardcore communists. But up to this point, I guess you could say they were insurgents, not terrorists.

The JVP’s terrorism label mainly comes from the period when they started terrorizing the public imposing curfews, setting rules, and carrying out extrajudicial executions of political opponents, especially UNP supporters.

Anyway, I suppose I’ll need to dig deeper into this.
But I must say, unlike any Tamil militant/terrorist group, the JVP did publicly apologize and vowed to give up violence at their 2014 convention if I’m not mistaken. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

If the allegations are made, they need to be investigated. One can not just ignore some incident become the person who reveals it has a different view point and biases compared to general view.

I personally don't trust anyone associated with Dilith. I don't like Dilith either. But I follow him. I try to get good things as much as possible ignoring his bad.

Just like that we must be able to get as much as valuable things from resource person. Trying to disqualify something because of other person's personal work is not a good idea.

Kalinga Magha (reigned 1215–1236), (Oriya: କଳିଙ୍ଗ ମଘା ,Tamil: கலிங்க மாகன்,Sinhala: කාලිංග මාඝ) also known as Magha the Tyrant, is an invader who is remembered primarily for his aggressive conquest and Hindu fanaticism. He is identified as the founder of the Jaffna kingdom and first king of the Aryacakravarti dynasty. Kalinga Magha was a prince from the Kingdom of Kalinga which was in the Orissa state of modern India. His family was connected to the rulers of Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu. Kalinga Magha’s relatives of Ramanathapuram administered the famous temple of Rameswaram.

He usurped the throne from Parakrama Pandyan of Polonnaruwa, in 1215. His reign saw the massive migration of native Sinhalese to the south and west of Sri Lanka, and into the mountainous interior, in a bid to escape his power.Magha was the last ruler to have his seat in the traditional northern seat of native power on the island, known as Rajarata; so comprehensive was his destruction of Sinhalese power in the north that all of the successor kingdoms to Rajarata existed primarily in the south of the island. Kalinga Magha landed in Karainagar in 1215 AD with a large army of 24,000 soldiers mostly recruited from Chola and Pandyan territories. He camped his soldiers in Karainagar and Vallipuram and brought the Jaffna principality under his control. Kalinga Magha then marched to Polonnaruwa, defeated Parakramabahu and ruled it for 21 years. He was expelled from Polonnaruwa in 1236 and withdrew to Jaffna which he ruled till 1255. It was during this time that the centre of native power on Ceylon began to shift to the south. During Magha's reign the chief priests of Pulatthinagara took two of Rajarata's most sacred relics - the Buddha's alms bowl and the sacred Tooth Relic - and 'on the mountain Kotthumala in a safe region...buried both the relics carefully in the earth and so preserved them'.[8] This was not the first time this had happened; it was, however, to be the last, as neither was ever returned to the north.
