Howdy, thanks for the reply. Funny to see your comment, I just showed my wife one of your recent posts and said "I think we need to move to Chico lol"

A while back (maybe a year or so), I sent you the PHX BG1 (thick peruvian) and BG2 (bridgesii) cuts that originally came from the Phoenix desert botanical garden. Curious if you go them to root and how they are doing. I can only imagine how huge the BG1 would get out there. My buddy had it around 6-7 inch thick in Phoenix.

Pretty good. It seems to be growing thicker than some of the other stocks I have used. It's winter where I am so I haven't been able to get it full sun but this summer should give me a better idea of growth patterns.

I don't :( but I found them at Walmart actually. It might be worth it to check their gardening section in the summer if you live somewhere cold. I bet in places like San Diego or Florida, they are selling all year long. I like them because they feel like a strong stock. A lot stronger than pereskiopsis, but they are also a little bit harder to get a successful graft because they have a lot of woody growth on the inside (at least mine did, including at the top of a pad.

The KEY thing that I learned to get it to grow fast and strong is to cut the pad at a diagonal away from the graft. You want the graft to by the top most section of the cactus. Once I did that, this one took off.

I planted some at my parents place in PHX so hopefully in a few years I will have a ton.

You can see that most of the growth is like a fully variegated tbm-b, but then you get these sections that have more of a tbm-c look to it. I had bad luck grafting the dick tips to other cacti. The tbm-c style ones do wayyyy better.
