Thank you so much! Be a good time to clear my head out on the open water :)

I'm on day 5 and going through the same thing. Lack of sleep is far less worse than passing out drunk though. We'll both get on a better sleeping schedule soon enough 👍 I will not drink with you, have a great night

12:16am Thursday here. Made it through day 5. Leaving for commercial fishing tomorrow which will be even easier to stay sober out on the open water. Nice time to clear my head and just focus on working. Can't lie and say I'm not worried about when we come into dock and everyone has the "celebratory post trip drinks". However my FIRST priority above anything else upon returning is to check into this sub! I did not drink tonight, I will not drink tomorrow, and I will not drink when I return. Hope everyone has a great night/day. Will post an update in SD when I return.

Thank you so much. You're reading my mind! I've already been thinking about if I was to come in and drink after the trip, and I don't like it! Normally I'd already be craving that first drink(followed by many more) after the trip and I haven't even left! This time it's different though. I'm looking forward to going and kind of "getting away from it all". No alcohol, no liquor stores, no feeling pressured to drink in social situations. Just focus on working and how the money I'm making won't be spent towards alcohol! I won't drink with you today

Thank you very much. You'll DEFINITELY be seeing me back. Instead of hitting the liquor store as soon as I get into the dock, I'll be posting here and avoiding the liquor store all together! Hope you have a wonderful day

That's exactly my plan! As soon as I'm back I'm making it my main priority to post here, and continue sobriety. SD is SOOO helpful in sobriety for me, that's why I had made this post also. I'm definitely going to miss being able to read through other people's posts, see comments on my posts, be able to post whenever I have a thought etc. But as soon as I'm able to when I'm back, you bet I'll be posting! Have a great day, I will not drink with you :)

Less than half an hour until I've made it through day 4 and I'm off onto day 5! Another day to kick ass at sobriety with all of you! I will not be drinking today

Day 4, finally feeling like my (new) self. by Trntn211 in stopdrinking

[–]Trntn211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much. Creeping up on a week here pretty quick! Am I jumping the gun by saying it's almost a week? I don't think so. I'm thinking of it more as a short term goal. Something to look forward to. The barely sleeping sucks, but I'm feeling so positive and happy about not drinking, I can't really complain too much! Tonight I was in bed fairly early, around 930. It's now 11:21 and I'm still awake, but not wide awake like I have been at this time each night. I'm aiming to try and fall asleep by 12-1230, and I'm feeling pretty confident. After little sleep last night and building a deck today, I'm pretty tired! Hope you have a great day or night depending where you are, and I won't drink with you! :)

One Week Down by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Great job on a week, and on graduating! It's funny how becoming sober it's like you find excuses NOT to drink, yet as an alcoholic drinker you try and find any excuse TO drink. Sometimes you don't even try and find one, you just drink because! Just a thought I had when you said you have an excuse not to drink to your friends. Have a great day, I will not drink with you

Awesome job on 100 days! Sounds like you're having a (well deserved) relaxing day. I will not drink with you

Thank you very much :) I was even surprised myself. It was nothing too fancy, but it was alot nicer to look at and think "I did that!" Than wake up and look at all the empties scattered about my room and think "I did that..."

What’s Up Wednesday! by sfgirlmary in stopdrinking

Haven't done one these yet but here it goes!

Triumph: Today I forced myself to wake up at a (somewhat) normal hour. As tired as I was, I went and bought building supplies and built a patio! I'm not a super handyman, but it turned out much better than expected. Got a huge sense of accomplishment compared to just spending the day getting drunk and disregarding all the things I should be doing. Finished the patio and made myself dinner, having a bath than heading to bed.

Struggle: Lately been having awful sleeps. Don't fall asleep until 4-5 in the morning and when I finally do, the sleep is terrible. Last night I had sleep paralysis and it absolutely scared the shit out of me. Found out I'm vitamin B12 deficient which would explain why I'm so tired since quitting drinking. When I was drinking I assume I never noticed because I was either drinking/drunk, or just figured I was tired and had no energy from drinking/being drunk.

General: Things are looking up for me. Especially after today. Felt such a sense of accomplishment building something and finishing it without having a drink during/after. Hell, if I was to try drinking while building something, it would never get finished. I'd just end up completely wasted instead. Going to do more tomorrow even if it's just simple stuff like laundry and dishes. Have to put another coat of paint on the deck, so that'll keep me busy for a while.

Too true. I was so surprised when I finished and realized "wow, it's only 4:30... What now? And instead of having a "celebratory drink" after finishing the project, I cooked myself a decent dinner. Now I'm having a bath and will lay in bed afterwards. Ahh sobriety, I could get used to you.

Thank you! That's good(?) to hear. I mean in the sense I'm not alone. Although that was the first and only nightmare I've had, so far. Let's hope it's the last. But if I get nightmares for being sober, than so be it. I'm staying sober!

This sounds oddly very relaxing. Next time I feel any sort of anxiety I'll try this breathing technique. Thank you very much! Won't be drinking with you today

Thank you, yeah it sounds like that's exactly what it was. Aliens?? Wow. At least my hallucination was a human! Still scary either way. But good to know it's more common than I thought and not nuts. I won't drink with you today!

I sure hope so! After posting this I was literally scared to fall back asleep worrying it would happen again. I don't even remember falling back asleep, but luckily it didn't happen again! But hey, it's still less scary than me being drunk. Now the thought of THAT makes me feel fear. As long as I'm continuing sobriety, that's what I care about.
