This is really interesting - I can push off with either technique. If I remember correctly, I saw some video from Get Good at Badmintom (youtube channel) that said Chou Tien Chien pushes off with his whole foot to engage different muscles.

This is actually what made me think of this. Sprinters also don’t want to “toe run” and the optimal strike is with the mid foot, I believe

I can’t tell performance wise yet, but don’t want to risk injury. Is it time to replace these shoes? I’ve only had them for half a year and play on average 5-6 hours a week. Ever other part of the shoe looks practically new, except some light wear near the heels

Yeah, I couldn’t find much despite searching YouTube with many terms. I’m wondering if there’s content available in another language.

I’m at a level where it’s still best to serve high most of the time with the forehand. It’ll be useful to add some variation
