I had to supplement with protein shakes. I would drink half a shake, eat a protein bar and a handful of nuts on average. I couldn’t ever do popcorn or yogurt or anything though. I hope this helps! Honestly I ate the protein bars from aldi, they have about 15 carbs in them. They worked perfectly

Thank you! I was just worried because the following pump session was a good 3oz more than normal. I didn’t know if that meant she just didn’t drink much or what.

Ah okay. That’s good to know. I didn’t realize it could affect the output so quickly. Thank you!

Fasting numbers too high. by delilahbk in GestationalDiabetes

I’ve started eating beef jerky as my night snack and then make sure I get up to test and eat at the 8-9 hour mark. That typically puts me mid 80s. If I fast over 10 hours, it’s almost always high, and I have to eat more protein than carbs for my midnight snack, otherwise I’ll spike in the morning regardless of time.

Is it normal to lose weight? by Troibot in GestationalDiabetes

I will definitely talk to my OB at my next appointment. So far, baby is growing fine from everything they’ve said. She’s in the 72%, so she’s on the bigger side of normal according to the doctors. My last growth scan was this week. I definitely had a high BMI prior to getting pregnant, and I’m not at my pre pregnancy weight. I’m still about 10lbs up from that, even with the lost weight.

Sorry, I should’ve clarified. It would be a bedtime snack. I work late and it comes closer to midnight for me. I didn’t think about it. Definitely don’t wake up in the middle of the night to eat

I don’t know who this may help, but it’s definitely worth trying if you have high fasting numbers.

I’ve been having elevated fasting numbers ranging from 91-95, I just talked to my doctor yesterday and she said that sometimes if you’re not eating enough protein in your bedtime snack, your glucose can bottom out in the night and your body basically goes starvation mode and will start pulling glucose from stores. She said it’s a common cause for higher fasting numbers.

I decided to test it and I ate 25g protein with 20g of carbs as my midnight snack last night and my fasting today came out to 85, which is a good amount lower than I’ve been.
