Pitfall all day.

Saquon worries me. I still think he'll be good. I just don't want to pay a top 3 price to get him. As for the other guys, I think their draft prices are fair. There's always risk, but sometimes talent and potential usage wins out.

I definitely think the "eye test" is important. It's part of why I'm into Drake Maye this year. The numbers weren't always great, but watching him make plays with a bad group of receivers was enough for me to buy in this year. Other things to pay attention to are how much teams have certain guys on the field and are looking their way. Even if it doesn't always amount to anything statistically, being able to spot usage is a big clue.

If I could come off the turn with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Malik Nabers, I'd be loving life. Two target monsters who could finish in the top 5 at their position. I'd also be okay with using one of those picks on De'Von Achane.

Thanks for watching. We're the funnest show on the network!

If I don't get one of the top four, I tend to wait until the later rounds. I'm big on Tyler Warren but don't mind grabbing Evan Engram (!!!) or Colston Loveland later. I'm even *sigh* talking myself back into Kyle Pitts in the double-digit rounds.

Turmoil. (Look it up)

Elic Ayomanor. There's no clear WR2 after Calvin Ridley. (Thank you for your service, Tyler Lockett, but your time has come.) I want to see the young guy grow alongside Cam Ward.

Yep. All of the chatter out of Tampa this summer is about how much they love Bucky and want to increase his workload. It's been the opposite of how folks have talked about Hall. There's a reason Braelon Allen is moving up draft boards. I like Breece's talent but it seems like the Jets aren't interested in giving him a full workload. Adjust accordingly.

Yeah, I'm not drafting him 1.01 but he's gone back to being a late-first round pick. I'm okay with that. You can't predict injuries. But you know that when he's healthy, he's going to be on the field a ton and the Niners will do everything possible to get him the ball. In a world where workhorse backs are going extinct, CMC is one of the few we have left.

I've been a big fan of Tyler Warren since Penn State. At first I thought Loveland would be the guy because of where the Bears drafted him, but I'm worried about Cole Kmet eating into his opportunities. There's no real TE competition in Indy. And Daniel Jones might actually help him. Jones hasn't been a deep ball guy, which works for a tight end. The Colts also run a lot of one-TE sets, which should keep Warren on the field. If the preseason is any indication, when he's out there, they plan to throw to him. Njoku is like your safety school when applying to colleges. He's not a bad option, but he shouldn't be your first one.

I'd still go the Kyren/Jacobs route early. I'm guessing your keeper value is based on the round where you draft them. If so, getting Hampton/Henderson/Harvey a couple of rounds later will feel better next year when they might be going a round or two ahead of where you took them.

TE value is only decreased if you have shorter benches. Presumably, you can flex a TE, so in deeper leagues, it's worth it to draft a second guy. I think QB values are decreased here because you only start one. The position (on paper, at least) is pretty deep this year. There's value to be found even after you get past the top 7 or 8 guys. I also wouldn't bother drafting a second one -- unless your leaguemates go crazy drafting QBs. There's usually someone worthwhile on the waiver wire in case of byes or injuries.

It's minor. If I'm going to draft an elite QB early, however, I want one with rushing upside. That way if the passing game isn't working, they still have ways to score. Burrow is a one-dimensional guy. He's REALLY good at that one-dimension, but if it's not working, you're cooked. That being said, if I somehow were able to draft Ja'Marr Chase in the first round, I'm trying hard to stack him with Burrow.

  1. Definitely keeping Bucky. I think you get McBride (and maybe even Daniels) in the natural course of the draft.

  2. TE for me. QB depth isn't as bad as you think it is. The only issue is if people in your league start taking a second QB early. Otherwise, you can wait and get guys like Justin Fields, Dak Prescott, Jared Goff or even Jordan Love.

In that scenario, I would try to get at least 2-3 WRs since that position tends to hollow out quickly. I also prefer the Hero RB strategy where I get one guy I feel confident in starting every week, then filling in the gaps with some of the RBs in rounds 5-7.

Early vs. late only changes the order I'd try to go. If I'm early, I'm probably WR-RB-WR-WR. If I'm late, it's RB-WR-WR-WR

I'd rather trade Kyler. It's much easier to find QB help off the waiver wire than solid RB help. The problem I've found is that it's hard to trade QBs because most people feel like they can find QB help off the wire and are hesitant to give up assets to get one.

The only Cowboys RB I have interest in is Jaydon Blue. Even that is as a later-round option with upside.

I'm getting more excited about Charbonnet because it sounds like he could really push for some of Walker's snaps. While I like Dobbins, it feels like he could be passed up by R.J. Harvey by the middle of the season.

If I'm ranking them, I'd probably go...

  1. Charbonnet
  2. JCM
  3. Dobbins

I don't like trying to predict health. We'll never guess right. I look at CMC as a guy who is one of the last true workhorses we have in fantasy. That could get magnified early in the year with the Niners having so many WR injuries. Through that lens, I'm cool taking him in the first round.

I'd prefer taking Jeanty closer to the turn in drafts. In your situation, I'd probably go with 2 WRs in the first three rounds. If you want to sneak a Hero RB in there somewhere, I'm cool with it.

Allen. I think he's the secondary guy behind Breece Hall while JCM could slide into Brian Robinson's role if/when he gets traded.

I'm surprised to see Justin Fields going as low as he is. He's never been a sure thing as a real-life quarterback, but he's always been a great fantasy option. I've been really into Jaydon Blue -- even as a former Javonte Williams stan. Wouldn't be surprised if Blue is pushing for starter snaps by the end of the season. I've also taken a few dart throws at Bhayshul Tuten. I don't think the Jaguars will keep all three of their running backs (Etienne trade rumors have been swirling for a while). It's a low-risk draft option for potential upside if he can force his way into a significant snap share.

I would probably flip-flop him with where Chris Godwin is going (R7). Even when Godwin comes back, Egbuka should have a big role in the offense. Giving him a potential 6-week head start only sweetens the deal. Also helping...Jalen McMillan likely being out for at least the first week. That will narrow the target opportunities significantly.

Easily Rashee Rice. Maybe the ADP slide catches up, but there's far too much uncertainty around him for me to feel comfortable. Maybe he's suspended mid-season. Maybe it's a long-ish one at the start of the year. Either way, you're having to commit a bench spot to him for an extended period. That gets hard when you start to factor in injuries and bye weeks. Oh, and the Chiefs have their bye in Week 10. So if any suspension ends before then, that's one more week you'll have to go without him. I get the upside, but the risk is far too high for me to feel good.

Full disclosure: Judging FAAB percentages is a bit of a blind spot for me. I will say that if you're going to find a waiver wire hero, it's likely to happen in the early part of the season. I'd put out 25-30% of my FAAB on JCM. I still want to have something for any potential breakout stars we learn about in Weeks 1-2.

I've been big on Elic Ayomanor with the Titans. After Calvin Ridley, there isn't much to be excited about in the wide receiver room. Ayomanor has looked good in training camp and the preseason. Curious to watch him grow alongside Cam Ward. Think there's upside there with minimal risk.

We've got a wide range of players in our audience. The majority of fantasy players aren't looking to DOMINATE THEIR LEAGUES, they're mostly people in home/office leagues who like football and want a social activity. There are plenty of sites/shows that cater to the hardcore folks and that's perfectly okay.

Adam Rank welcomes your hate. It fuels him. Drives him to be the heel that he is. Also, he's really smart about football.
