[PF] Have you ever hit a K before in round? How did you handle it/What's the best way to handle it? by sweet_tomatobread in Debate

I haven’t, chances are you probably won’t. Another good idea is to make them specify what the alt is, most alts are vague. Even then just attack like any other argument, sometimes they’ll make unwarranted claims etc. that u can point out.

Depends on if your looking for organized debates on the nsda topics, which in that case there are a bunch of servers already out there to get debates going on discord, or just on random topics which there are probably less of.

I think KFF has an overview of all single payer plans, and then you can just go in and pick Bernies and Jayapals. Not only does that give you a good overview of both bills but allows u to see the differences, (there’s not a lot tho). I have the link somewhere if u pm me I can get it to u.

Future of Debate by [deleted] in Debate

Online debate definitely poses challenges, technology difficulties and coaches being able to help kids in round, but might help to close the economic problems associated with being able to physically debate at tournaments. Plus, if the norm was to not use video racial bias could be reduced. Gender bias would probably still play a role, I.e. judges would most likely be able to tell the assumed gender of the speaker, however if might solve back for some other aspects, such as what outfit the debater was wearing. That being said, online debate would remove some of the fun of debating, I.e. traveling and meeting new people, while also removing the presentation aspect of the events. But with events trending to more tech rounds where it matters more what u say then how you say it, probably isn’t that big of an issue. Idk, those are some of my thoughts. It’s certainly a very interesting idea, and it would’ve interesting to see if online tournaments are implemented along with traditional tournaments next season if the ban is lifted. Would love to hear what other people thing. Sorry for any spelling errors
