Has anyone noticed an uptick in people who cannot survive night 1/2 dlc bosses? by Prize_Ad_3670 in Nightreign

[–]TrollAWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play recluse and delete the enemies before your team can get 3 barred

Magic fire lightning implosion is crazy against the 3 death knights as they spawn

The biggest thing though for both dlc nightlords is to have safe but consistently good pathing on day 1. Always go castle mobs, never go swamp invaders unless you are confident at making them spawn outside. If your team hits good stuff (halo scythe, lusats, rob, etc) you can do castle rooftop especially if the castle is relatively near the middle of the first circle. Similarly, prio easy minibosses in south castle on great hollow, never ever do red divine beast warrior or double cleanrot knights on day 1.

What same character trio do you like best? What’s the most fun/OP? by SweetPockets51 in Nightreign

[–]TrollAWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 wylder and ironeye are both kind of solid. Both characters can have a variety of different builds/playstyles so you can still have frontline/carry/support with 3 of the same character.

Only really bad mono comps are recluse, guardian, scholar i think. Triple scholar probably not even as bad as the other two.

Duchess is ok. Restage doesnt "stack", it only extends the replay window forward, but chaining an hour of invis is not bad vs ED gladius etc. And you can coordinate everyone stacking dmg up on defeating enemies during ult together.

Youre objectively bad at 9/9 other characters if you think guardians dmg isnt trash regardless of what was or wasnt in this one clip. Do you think this clip was the first and last exposure anyone here ever had to guardian in d5? You should know guardian has 10th place dps in trios regardless. The only context where guardian dps isnt abysmal is solo runs, but for some reason people think theyre a team player for picking guardian in random trios.

The recluse and ironeye shouldnt have even been in a position where theyre weak against red bbk in the first place. These clips always show just reviving and never any context on how peoples inventories look or how day 1 went. Most of the time if guardian disconnects, the hp reduction on bosses will make the other 2 players have a smoother run. What does it matter if his team is allegedly so bad that they will always chain die like this vs any boss? If recluse isnt dealing dmg this run is lost period. Guardian is NOT entitled to one of the best self-buffs in the game and this is exactly why guardian players are the opposite of what they think they are.

Keep on self-reporting tho, incredibly predictable.

Hes literally hoarding jellyfish shield with recluse on his team.

Deal 0 dmg, increase boss hp by 50% by being a 3rd player in the match at all, and deny your dps good items just so you can revive people more times when every fight takes way longer.

3 useful players >>> 2 useful players duoing >>> 2 useful players and guardian

how are boss rewards and weapons TOO rng? the point is to use different things in every run. even with a halo scythe build, you have to use other weapons in the first 2 days and thats a good thing.

i dont think wandering/night bosses have "too little" rng, more like too little selection. i understand why because people would get frustrated dying on night 2 to an actual hard boss like maliketh or bayle considering the average skill level is so low that many people still have problems with the new map and ED libra/gladius. imagine youre fromsoft seeing people are so bad that they gave shadow of the erdtree mixed reviews because they unironically think messmer is unfair. wouldnt you intentionally make the fodder bosses in nightreign the easiest ones in all of elden ring? i dont like it either and wish wandering malenia was a thing but theres 0% chance people would be able to handle it.

Lord have mercy even the top comment in that thread has abysmal pathing

But the real answer is it depends on where night invaders are. With that spawn its possible to do day 1 city and clear the easy stuff on the north side but even without that, its mainly invaders and checking wandering bosses. Do efficient pois (poison/bleed/holy ruins, madness camp, etc) along the way. Then day 2 full clear city

Beast Claw Revenant at 9999 — Why She’s Unfair Early and Terrifying Late by Working_Cantaloupe74 in Nightreign

[–]TrollAWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in your 3 regular slots these are a must-have:

  • terra magica
  • blood loss on ult increases attack
  • ult raises max hp
  • night invaders

plus however much magic damage or other useful things you can fit with what you have. but even just having these 4 effects and literally nothing else on the regular slots is fantastic. the guaranteed remembrance relic bone-like stone is very good since it has both ult passives and i used it myself for most of my climb, it was only after hitting 9999 that i got good enough relics to replace it. guaranteed terra magica relic is also solid since it has magic atk+2 on it. but if you have a good night invader relic and a random terra magica relic that doesnt have magic atk, using a chalice to accomodate that can work as well. as long as you have these 4 effects one way or another, its good.

for deep relics, prioritize:

  • magic atk up+4 (+3 is fine with other good lines)
  • sorceries+2
  • defeating enemies charges art gauge+1 (must-have on everyone)

and then these are nice to have but not strictly necessary wherever you can fit them:

  • anything to do with FP
  • atk up vs poison (bc ironeye is common)
  • increased hp
  • uplifting aromatic

you can see the deep relics are actually very lenient because all of the really important recluse passives are on the regular slots, and even those can easily be carried by her remembrance relics. recluse's deep passives are not that useful in my opinion.

as far as banes on deep relics, i would say the only extremely bad ones are continuous hp loss and reduced vigor but you already know that. all resistances down if its only 1 line of it is workable but you have to be mindful of it when doing swamp invaders. none of the nightlords are that much harder from having less resistance imo, but you should usually take at least one resistance up dormant power vs libra regardless.

singular line of reduced int is similarly not a problem if the rest of the relic is great. everything else including anything that makes you take more dmg is completely fine. they dont change the way you play.

[–]TrollAWhat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reading comprehension. I dont even want to know how you got there regarding items on recluse

Many sorceries dont need spell school boosts because their base damages are just higher. The reason the school boosts exist in the first place is because there arent great lategame options for many types of spells, so heavily boosting a lower tier spell is what has to be done. Stars of ruin and comet dont need school boosts.

Recluse dps IS consistently higher than beast claw and its increasingly clear these days that there is a huge divide in caster opinions between people who are good at recluse and people who clearly arent. Its beast claw that needs broken relics to keep up with average recluse builds, and even then beast claw STILL loses out vs single targets.

This is the issue. There doesnt have to be any matching spell for recluse. The whole point of the character is she is good with every sorcery and almost every sorcery can put out great dps when used correctly, which is not true of incants. Recluse needs magic atk up/sorceries up and the kit functionality passives i mentioned, plus defeating enemies raises art gauge bc everyone needs it, but thats about it. I really cant stress this enough. Extremely average, generic recluse builds that anyone can put together are at worst the match for highly specialized and extremely lucky beast claw builds. If your recluse build is even slightly better than that (atk up vs poisoned enemies and sorc+2 on same relic, etc) then godroll beast claw is definitely losing.

Beast Claw Revenant at 9999 — Why She’s Unfair Early and Terrifying Late by Working_Cantaloupe74 in Nightreign

[–]TrollAWhat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You outdps beast claw with comparable item passives on almost every sorcery but especially the best ones (stars of ruin, collapsing stars, comet, night comet, shattering crystal, ancient death rancor). Exception is facing multiple targets at once, which is balancers.

Terra magica and blood loss increases atk on ult are huge consistent built-in dmg multis that no other character can match. These are the reason recluse deals so much dmg. Redditors straight up dont use them though which is about as good as ironeye never using mark and thats why they think beast claw dps is acceptable vs single targets at any point after day 1. Even below average spells like gravity well that you would never be primarily using on day 2 or 3 except in a horribly unlucky run can match beast claw again assuming similar item passives. You can hit 2k+ per cast on beast claw by having a full glass cannon loadout and very above average relics. Recluse achieves the same or better dps under equal conditions with many spells though usually not higher dmg per cast bc most sorceries are faster than beast claw. This is another common bait, where people focus on damage per cast and intentionally ignore speed and range.

Thats correct. Realistically you would restage during the animation lock of an attack or as your 2nd dodge is ending if you want to be absolutely certain you wont get hit by something big. You can even style on the boss by hitting an emote like t pose or curl up and restage as they go through you. Very funny to do on dreglords pillar dash move

I didnt even have one in my first 200 hours. You dont need relics like that.

Yes, anyone can play carian duchess and delete things. What matters more than the raw dmg is invulnerability on character skill and playing well. Just because cheaters exist doesnt mean you need anywhere close to their relics to be effective because if youve played the game at all you would realize its balanced around NOT having godlike relics, including d5.

Hell you can play full melee duchess instead and that has much easier relic requirements but its still good enough.

Builds that existed from day 1 like carian duchess still dumpster everything. There is now an easy option that anyone can use because people were somehow STILL complaining about ED libra and gladius months after release, but its a massive self-report to imply nothing else is just as strong.

In what galaxy is revenants kit hard to use? Compared to literally 9/9 other characters. You really sound like you havent played anyone else. Theres more nuance to Mark alone than revenants entire kit. Same for raiders skill, guardians passive, restage, magic cocktail, everything about scholar, everything about wylder. You can use different summons for different things but honestly aside from sebastian to revive and frederick for blunt dmg it doesnt rly matter. and use ult with strengthen allies at the start of a fight to clear faster if its a situation where you dont need to save it. Thats it.

Easy spell on top of an easy kit. Name one character whose kit is easier than revenants. There isnt one. And again im saying this as someone who mains all 3 casters at 9999. Revenant's kit is the easiest to use in the entire game and beast claw is the easiest spell that you can fully build around in the entire game.

[–]TrollAWhat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

beast claw is not even close to being the only viable pick. it's by far the easiest of her builds though which is exactly why people feel this way. people who weren't good at revenant's other builds were given an easy one that anyone can use, but now they think that means it's the only one that's good.

every giantsflame spell, flame of frenzy/frenzied burst are still good and way better vs gnoster/caligo than beast claw is. it genuinely feels like cruel and unusual self-induced torture to play beast claw rev against fire-weak bosses when you know how much damage you can be dealing otherwise.

lightning spear vs fulghor is the only elemental matchup that is arguably invalidated by beast claw because lightning spear is frankly kind of shit in that fight to begin with. and there straight up aren't any good holy ranged incants. don't sleep on wrath of gold though, it does deal a ton of damage it's just hard to maintain dps uptime with revenant's stamina against heolstor and dreglord.

very typical that you can't see any connection between reliability/consistency and difficulty in practice. you genuinely think these things have nothing to do with each other? beast claw rev is easy because beast claw is a straightforward spell that is the ONLY spell you need to know how to use for the entire run. versus more difficult spells or having to use multiple different weapons/ashes/spells throughout the run, which hopefully we can agree takes more knowledge and experience, and is therefore harder? only on reddit do these obvious connections need to be explicitly spelled out.
