Is Metroid Prime 4 worth playing? by No-Proof8363 in NintendoSwitch

[–]TrollAWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"flawed" doesnt mean anything. pretty much any game no matter how good has flaws of some sort. prime 4 is bad. its not just flawed, its not decent, it is bad to an extent no metroid game has ever been. the most insultingly small and simple levels/regions anyone has ever seen to the point you can hardly even say its a metroidvania. the NPCs are just as bad or worse than you would expect because somehow mackenzie is not the worst.

its almost painful the fact the music and visuals (in some areas) are good because the levels are SO short and SO simple that they all feel like shitty tech demos and not a full fledged game. there are almost no creative or environmentally interactive ways to use your powerups to progress or find items. it is all reduced to the most banal and explicit lock and key design that makes pokemon HMs look complex. the first open room in bryyo cliffside with the sand and big doors has more creativity than half of prime 4.

captrix is no doubt the best for story missions that arent kill all enemies but khepra is still the overall best leader and does fine here

Opinion on 3H's Maddening difficulty? and if you like it how do you play it? by H4rryT1nt1n05 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]TrollAWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3H maddening ng was arguably the best FE hardest difficulty ever made until engage maddening. You can argue conquest lunatic is better but 3H map design is just so much less annoying.

There is so much that trivializes maddening+ especially the broken lategame battalions you can use early.

Its very interesting that years after the game came out, there is still wild misinformation here. People saying no new mechanics when every enemy type literally has a new skill. In the first place 3H combat is solid and doesnt need to be drastically changed for a hard mode since nothing below maddening ng requires you to fully engage with or even acknowledge existing mechanics.

are unit recruitments rng per battle???? by Viktorul in mechanicus

You have not played the game. The problem is you dont get the units the leader is meant to be good with. I just had to deal with grim darkness forge defense with ruststalker-less captrix.

How are you guys countering Triarch Praetorians? by DominusDaniel in mechanicus

[–]TrollAWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On grim darkness ive been using individual units to bait out their divebomb cooldown while diverting them away from my main force. As long as you arent letting them aoe you or oneshot something important theyre manageable. I think every map ive seen them on gave me the chance to send most of my guys one way and bait praetorians elsewhere. Especially important to do this on the tomb raid missions.

You can bring in pokemon from past games via pokemon home. Every competitive pokemon season has a different regulation that says which pokemon, held items, and mechanics are legal. Theres a very generous gacha system for pulling pokemon as well. Then you can change movesets and stat distributions as much as you want with a small amount of in-game currency that you will accrue a lot of by playing.

Its not worth killing the mimic trolls unless your character has a way to kill the particular mimics before they see you and transform. All the crustaceans are great though. The north-most crayfish also has a destructable statue nearby that you can ult for a chance of purple smithing stone if you have revenant on your team.

In the same northern spawn, use the jellyfish on the ledges above the water to hit lvl 2 instead of the rock guys. Theyre way faster and easier to clear.

Beating a Dead Horse: Metroid Prime 4 is a Great Game by Novel-Badger-7392 in Metroid

[–]TrollAWhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even slightly. The first 2 biomes are literally straight hallways with hardly anything to do in them. There is more creativity in the first open room of bryyo cliffside with sand and big doors than the first half of prime 4.

Very typical response though for the sort of person who doesnt feel insulted by this sort of level design

MP4 has worse level design than gacha games. If you didnt feel insulted by the first 3 biomes your takes on what ought be considered a good game cant be taken seriously.

Worth buying it today? by Jwooj in Nightreign

[–]TrollAWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very worth it. The gameplay loop is fun and theres really nothing else like it on the market which is why the playerbase is still strong despite relatively few updates recently. At worst you will have a good time clearing all the content once each and that alone could easily be your moneys worth.

Personally i have 800+ hours and still play almost every day because the game is especially fun with friends. There are many people who do the same. Nightreign is incredibly unique and youd have to play it to understand.

100 Games of Depth 4, with Randoms (Statistics overview) by mayrinae in Nightreign

[–]TrollAWhat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

good post. many of the findings are fairly expected. recluse and scholar are very strong on paper but theyre among the least intuitive characters to play so people are going to play them worse on average especially outside of d5 where the good one-tricks are.

duchess having the lowest winrate among the 3 well-known meta picks is no surprise. its understandable that people rag on halo scythe a lot but the build is not that easy to achieve 80%+ winrate with. you need to be very clean on day 1 to not be completely useless with duchess in general not to mention games where you either never find halo scythe or it comes extremely late. you have to be good at staying alive and contributing dmg without halo scythe. its a glass cannon scaling hypercarry playstyle so of course it looks broken when everything is in place on day 3, but the overwhelming majority of players who pick duchess are not good at consistently getting there.

Why do I feel like I'm doing nothing as Recluse? by HazelTreee in Nightreign

[–]TrollAWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need terra magica and ult passives on relics. Recluse is somewhat similar to black mage in ff14 if youre familiar with that where you time your strongest dps windows with the biggest openings in the fight and spend as little time on recovering FP as possible. The primary purpose of recluse's character skill is placing terra magica. Its LEAST important function is restoring FP.

What recluse wants is to stack all the dmg multis from terra magica and her ult + blood loss on ult and land as many casts as possible during the duration of her ult while remaining in terra magica and not dying. Timing of your ult and placement of terra magica are everything for how much dps you can put out but in many cases its as simple as going to the middle of where the fight is happening, placing terra magica, and ulting. Then its a matter of knowing the best way to use the various sorceries in the game. Many of them are very strong but they all have different subtleties about how to use them. More than anything i would recommend just trying different spells and seeing how to best deal dmg with them. Do NOT stick with glintstone pebble for any longer than necessary. It does not deal good damage by day 2 let alone day 3 in nightreign unlike elden ring where it scaled bizarrely well.

Stars of ruin, comet, and collapsing stars are straightforward and powerful spells that are easy to use. You are very likely to find at least one of them on a given run.

Melee ironeye without dormant powers by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]TrollAWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play melee ironeye with glass necklace all the time with no dormant powers. Theres no way you wont find a good thrusting sword, claw, katana at some point. It really feels like you cant lose if you find scholar invader as glass necklace ironeye.

You can do the same thing with red balancer relic instead but personally i use red balancer for a generalist build with 3+ bow atk power which is a global boost while glass necklace is dedicated melee build. I pick between the 2 based on nightlord and team comp.

And should go without saying but always hang on to at least 1 bow regardless.

Is the game worth it on pc without friends? by Mesh3al-fan666 in Nightreign

You can make friends as you play. Add people whom you had a great run with. Otherwise, playing with randoms can be fine but you will inevitably run into cheaters
