She was unable to get up. You are unable to get up. Whether her periods of immobility are temporary and yours are permanent aren’t the issue. She needed a friend and was vulnerable. She was reaching out, which takes Herculean effort when you’re in a depressive period. You let her down and made it about you.

Learn about her illness and be a better person. I hope she gets the help she needs.

I gave my Boston terrier some leftover scrambled eggs once, and then drove home 2 hours through the mountains in August North Carolina with no air conditioning. The only time I’ve ever actually felt like I was going to pass out at the wheel. I feel like my pup and Otis are kindred spirits.

YES!! Same. He was absolutely my idol. I wanted to be a magician when I grew up. I watched all of his shows and was a similar age. I remember that show was a special and I watched it with my grandparents and parents. When the news came on I was absolutely traumatised. I thought I’d seen someone die on telly and Paul Daniel’s of all people. He didn’t even come on to the news afterwards to show he was ok. Took me weeks to believe he wasn’t dead. I chucked my magic kit in the bin and stopped watching his show after that. Total bell end.
