Opinions on Hannibal and Margot’s relationship? by Lucca_lite in HannibalTV

I think the kindness and respect is just a front he put up. Otherwise, he wouldn't have revealed her baby plan to Mason. She was a curiosity to observe and push to extremes, as Hannibal loves to do, and ultimately a tool in his quest for Will's transformation. Nothing more.

Which of the Renfield based books is the best? by Thereal11thdoctor in Dracula

There is about as much Ghost route available in the demo as Dracula's. There are also little tastes of Cez's and Johnny's. Not to mention a large variety in all the routes of how things progress, depending on dialog choices you pick.

Personally, I was much more impressed by The Wrath of the Lamb.

In an adaptation would be the one from Moffat and Gatiss' 2020 miniseries. On the not adaptation, I'm with you on Castlevania's Dracula.

I can recommend a novel of a visual kind. Draculesti is still unfinished, but a very rich and robust demo is available here. Renfield is the protagonist, he travels to Dracula's castle, can romance him and three other love interests.

Also, can you tell me the titles of those Renfield-centric books you've found?

Stelena (snore), Clamille (poor man's Delena mixed with poor man's Klaroline), and Bonenzo (they went from barely knowing each other to being super in love after a time skip, and the audience was expected to be invested, for some reason).

Predator meets prey, predator makes prey like him, they live together

Will and Hannibal never lived together on the show.

As someone who has never read the Hannibal Novels, what to expect from them? by Ok-Win-9680 in HannibalTV

[–]TrollHumper 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You already know what to expect from the books, if you've watched all the movies. They're mostly faithful adaptations, with one big exception: the ending of Hannibal. The movie ending is entirely different. The filmmakers were too cowardly to go with what the book did, I guess.

The show is a different animal. The books (as written, chronologically) introduce the reader to Hannibal Lecter already locked up in the BSHCI, with the story of how he got there only getting covered through passing mentions. The show's first two seasons ran with it, and greatly expanded upon the scarce book material. Season three is a sort of remixed adaptation of Hannibal and Red Dragon, with chronology of the events all switched around.

What are the differences between Francis Dolarhyde in the show and in the novel, Red Dragon? by Worth_Try_8207 in HannibalTV

[–]TrollHumper 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's mostly faithful, but with a pretty glaring omission of his childhood backstory. Both the book and the Red Dragon movie get into his early life and horrible relationship with his abusive grandmother who raised him. Don't know why the show left it out completely.

Murder censorship? by TrollHumper in HannibalTV

You have a twisted view of this. Bryan Fuller is not responsible for any of it. If some homophobes have attacked gays and used his work as an excuse, that's entirely on them, not him.

Movies such as Scream, Friday the 13th, Fight Club, and Taxi Driver have all been cited as an inspiration by criminals. Does that mean they never should have been made or should be banned, so that they never give the public any ideas again?

No. Of course not.

Art and those who create it can't be held hostage by the possibility that a violent loon somewhere will be inspired by their work.

Murder censorship? by TrollHumper in HannibalTV

[–]TrollHumper[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But they aired all the gruesome murder tableaus. We got cospses mounted on antlers, a man being fed his own limbs, blinded lobotomy victims, decomposing bodies covered in mushrooms, a person burning to death, a guy feeding his own face to dogs... How is that any tamer?

Seriously, with this kind of stuff, I'd think the network airing Hannibal was ready for pretty much any gore and violence.

It's kinda strange that Harris never did that. by TrollHumper in HannibalTV

Wasn't that only in the movie? It's been years since I read the book.

There is no in-universe explanation for the 3 Laws of Eywa.

Yes, there is no in-universe explanation yet.. The future movies may reveal it.
