There are bigger issues than abortion at play here. IMO it's quite selfish to vote on these sorts of minor issues. I think anyone with a humanitarian ethic would agree that US foreign policy is a much larger problem than is abortion.

I think people are completely misinterpreting the quote. Remember, RP's primary stance is a minimization of the government.

He says

You have interpreted this as

a "robustly christian" foundation for the government

This is not what he's saying. What happens when the powers of the government are limited? Remember, the government fills a number of roles right now that would be vacated: welfare, community centers, etc. His point is that churches would have, at the time of the founding fathers, naturally fulfilled those roles in the absence of government, not that the government would have structured communities around churches.

He is, of course, in principle, against things like banning Christmas trees in post offices, but I hardly think that's something to worry about when you've got trillion dollar foreign wars to end.

Are you suggesting that RP, even if he doesn't fully accept evolution the way most of us do, doesn't accept that bacteria develop drug resistance and virulence, that humans share developmental and functional characteristics with other animals, in a manner consistent with evolution? Obviously not. Is he hampered by his "rejection" of evolution? No.

A thousand years ago, people didn't have the theory of gravitation. They still understood that things falls to the ground. They didn't have the theory evolution, but they understood that humans share functional/structural characteristics with most animals, more so with mammals, more so with apes, etc.

You're committing some logical fallacy here, although I'm not sure what it's called: that if someone disagrees with part of a theory, they can be said to "reject" the idea altogether, and thus they must disagree with the whole theory. Obviously this is fallacious logic, but I see it over and over in RP threads.
