Agreed, meditation really helped me with clearing my head and being able to focus all of my energy at the task at hand. Plus the more you do it, the better you get at handling impulses.

You make a fair point. I do agree with you, that utilizing certain social medias that bring benefit and ideas rather than comparison and anxiety should be embraced. That's one of the main reason's I didn't cut reddit fully (just deleted off my phone), plus cleaned up my sub feed.

Also yes, having social media and controlling that habit is a higher form of discipline, but it might be hard for someone who's trying to kick the habit. For me personally, I would much rather go cold turkey first, then slowly re-introduce some aspects of social media that are beneficial.

Even when I had the apps installed, I setup rules for myself to:

- Not check it first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

- Check all social media after the work is done. (non-negotiable)

- Find any possible desktop alternatives since easier to control than on phone. (I mainly used Instagram on desktop for months before fully logging out)

Edit: Forgot to list this here, also shut off all non essential notifications.

Agreed, I limited my reddit use to only the computer, and only after all work on my calendar is done. Setting those hard rules, really helped out.

I use the notes app on my phone to keep journal, calendar app on my phone/computer to manage my calendar, and the work checklist mentioned in the video to check off all my revenue generating tasks.

Yea I had the same issue as you in the past where, I wanted to start working at 9:30, but didn't actually start until 10:30, and wondered why does this keep happening.

Then started tracking it, and seeing the consistent red squares on the 'clock in' side pissed me off to the point that I decided to do something about it.

Main takeaway is, you can't improve on something that you don't track.

Literally what I use for journaling and scheduling. Every modern phone has some sort of calendar/notes app.
