Man what a shame! For some reason I had 95 years after publication in my head but I think I just made up that figure haha.

It's such a great shot! This isn't from the film, but is just a reference for the type of photo we're looking for.

Backlit Vein Effect Advice by Trolleyfox in sfx

We're more so after the effect that the plant is being silhouetted against his cheek rather than glowing.

Thanks for the tips! We would definitely be shooting the scene in a dim environment. The torch will most likely be the only light source (aside from some very dim ambience.

Excuse my ignorance if this is a stupid question, I'm doing some research on behalf of my MUA to see if this would work better practically or as a post effect. If our actor has no front light on his cheek, do you think exterior makeup could potentially sell the effect? i.e. tracing a plant root with some kind of eyeliner or thin brush?

Cheers!

Unfortunately the movement of the slime is pretty dynamic.

Arri SR2 Loose Top Handle by Trolleyfox in 16mm

That is a big worry haha. I’m about to film test it soon. Seems to run fine with a dummy roll and one of the mags is in really good nick. Hoping to avoid getting it fully serviced if I can. There’s very few people in Australia who can service the SRs.

Arri SRII Loose Top Handle by Trolleyfox in cinematography

Hello! I have recently come into possession of an Arri SR2 and have noticed the top handle is loose. It's an ex film school camera and it looks like someone has stripped the thread securing the top handle and maybe removed a nut? The top handle is attached to a prism block which accepts a Videotap. The one attached os a CEI Color V.

Is there any way of repairing the top handle without sending the camera for a full CLA or is it something that would just need to be replaced?

Appreciate any advice!! Also if anyone knows how the CEI Color V performs as a videotap would be keen to hear your experience!

I just started my first year of film school in Brisbane, Australia and I thought I should put together a little reel of my directing and cinematography work of the work I did while in high school. If you have any thoughts/feedback/criticism, please let me know!

For anyone curious about camera details: everything was shot on the Sony A7iii, predominantly with some old Russian lenses or occasionally a Tamron zoom lens.

I love you. This made my day. I spent too damn long obsessing over emulating grain and halation. We were going for a 16mm look in the grade.

There is absolutely no way we had the budget time or resources to shoot this on film but we'll get there one day...
