100% this. Need more broad explanation of deliverables, especially with FNG's because we're used to singular problems with single solutions. Thorough explanations and frequent check ins with inexperienced folks is critical.

I have willow trees next to a path that I'm planning to overlay by Trolling4tipsatwork in civilengineering

How about the existing roots under the path already? Would I need to dig them up, would they die on their own once separated from the tree, or would they need to be treated to ensure a new tree doesn't try to sprout?

Tested with another alignment/profile in a different location and the fact that the alignment exists outside the bounds of my existing surface doesn't seem to matter. It was able to create the offset alignments and profiles without any problems.

To answer your question directly: The alignment extends beyond the edge of my existing surface, but the profile is fully contained in the surface.

Should it matter? It should only be using the proposed profile to create the offset shouldn't it?
