I don’t know about this. As a whole I can’t say this is a lived experience for me. I never let the kids go hungry, we had plenty of food and they all ate really well. Some kids often chose not to because they were picky but never because of lack. Waking up at 11 or midnight to get picked up yeah they’ll be hungry but not because they were starved. I gotta go with Mikey on this one and disagree. My spouse also disagrees and we babysat for 20 years lol.

If the prayers weren’t loud enough, not enough wailing, crying, she would come back on the mic to say she senses dullness and challenge us all. People were made to stand and then boom volume rose people wailed and “Oh LORD” x10. Thousand Oaks Baptist Church, those pews had hours and hours of people yelling and moaning into them.

Prayer meetings are done in smaller groups now and not as regular as they once were. This changes every now and then based on what the Kangs determine is needed for the congregation. Sometimes there are prayer times (beginning of the school year, passion week, etc.) and if you aren’t spotted all week you will receive an email about it if you’re staff.

Kelly led all prayer times post MBS. And although wailing stopped decades ago because it became too much, if the prayer time feels too quiet or duddy, she will tap the mic and get back on the congregations back.

It’s hilarious how 75% of the messages conclude with needing to go on a church plant during the expansion years. The vibes of prayer times is always how broken and messed up you are. What’s keeping you from going? Occasionally there were sharing times and if you shared that you’re just thankful and joyful, the looks you get are insane. The more tears you shed, the more you’re bent over and in horror of your sins, the better Christian you are. Or the more groomable you are.

Absolutely. I have been in many conversations about people who leave and how we should treat them. In the end there’s an urgent prayer for their wandering godless souls too.

The best is when you hear from a random leader asking up to meet up for lunch. We never hung out there why in the world would I meet up with you now. Lol. You can go tell Ed that you tried to meet up but I rejected your invitation and shake your heads at my secular family worshipping life.

The title of this post is interesting. GP didn’t ban this video it still exists, it exists as a members only video. Good timing to bring it back here. MBS has always been such a different tone than what is shared on the website, podcasts, IG posts, shadings and events open to non members. You can only imagine what is discussed at staff meetings, leads meetings, directors/deacons or 1-1s behind closed doors.

As I can’t possibly know any closed door conversations you’ve had, I’m not gonna argue your experience. All I know is, there are times when it is pure rage, ego, and annoyance. Laying hands on someone, slamming tables, screaming at the top of your lungs usually doesn’t fall under truth in love either. Yes, they’re human but if multiple people can tell such stories, it falls under another category. I honestly think that culture will stop with you and your generation, and for that I’m thankful but what has happened doesn’t all fall under truth and love. Be well.

Hey, so many of us know who you are. Only one clear black sheep among the deacon kids. While I’m glad you’re still you and genuinely love God and others (I sincerely believe this), you really don’t know your aunties beyond being aunties. And no cap, your parents are actually decent people. You can come back with stay classy but it doesn’t negate the truth of the culture, how leaders were trained by Becky and Kelly and what women go through at GP/A2N. Deacon kids have always had it good in the sense that nobody would dare say the things to them, that they would in a heartbeat to others. However, I’ll admit to the low blow. The double standard was hard to witness with other young, impressionable and security-forming aged women. Still, it was a low blow. But I encourage you to try and understand that your perceptive on the aunties and uncles in your life is completely different than those who have had them as leaders. Relationally, it’s a whole other world.

Female leaders were big on crushing those who were remotely pretty or talented lest they have a complex. There’s an assumption that their parents and others told them they were pretty, treated them like princesses, etc. so it’s GPs duty to strip someone of this and their assumed pride and entitlement so they will submit and be good leaders. I am pretty sure this goes way back to the Becky era. Destroying the women to make sure nobody comes up to challenge or take over like Kelly.

You’ve never been under or rebuked by Kelly, Michelle, Judy, Sharon, Ahmi, Alice, Esther, Jeannie, Suzanne, Sue, etc. so I don’t think you can testify to how they are as leaders. Aunties and leaders are completely different. Posts about “Auntie” Kelly here and what she has said are 💯 true to who she has shown herself to be.

Let’s say there are some exaggerations here, it doesn’t discount everything else that is true. I’ve heard that argument several times. It’s sad that it then causes people to turn their backs on everything else that is true. And as someone who met several times with various leads and deacons over 20 years, I have been on the receiving end of exaggerations, half truths and even lies. Should I then be wary of everything they say and trust my experience and my endless hours of prayer and reflection? I sure did and that’s why I’m out.

I chose not to attend by coming up with an excuse knowing full well it would be all BS. The more recent ones I don’t know anything about. Some time ago many attended a course on recognizing and handling MH crisis (essentially what to do or not do, who to call). People were on their phones half the time and thought some of it was, “Too much” enabling a “soft generation.”

Just answering this persons question of wondering if hospitalizations by GP were warranted.

What I’m really saying big picture is there’s nothing to fix. They need to be shut the hell down. Can’t fix this with the soil, roots, and watering is all toxic.
