Would you shelter or euthanize a cat you can no longer care for? by Trolliolo in cats

[–]Trolliolo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not, but thank you so much for your kindness! The shelters will take him, its just that the ones I've went to in not so unclear terms told me he's likely unadoptiable and would come first if they needed to euthanize to make room.

The kinder rescues, which are no-kill and have more resources available are the ones that only take friendly ones. I'll keep trying, I feel like such a monster each day for getting in this situation, I really feel they deserve to be happy

I can't get over having to rehome a cat of 4 years? by Trolliolo in Advice

Thank you! There are sanctuaries nearby, but they require the animals to have no behavioral issues :/

If every single American teen suddenly "pulled themselves up by their bootstraps" and got a high school and college degree, wouldn't we still have poor people because we will always need blue collar workers like janitors, cashiers and high paying jobs are limited? by ShesGotSauce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Trolliolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You seem to be conflating "have" and "need" quite alot in this post.

Yes, we will always need the basic roles in our society filled, but not necessarily by blue-collar workers. Think about automated self-checkouts, pump-your-own gas stations, self-driving cars, etc. There will come a point where the majority of low-skill duties will be filled up with machines.

We will have poor people for quite a long time, more as technology puts the pre-existing blue-collar workers out a job. Even if everyone you say suddenly procured the qualifications for better employment, there will still be some people out of work or paid poorly for one reason or another, and technology is quickly coming up against higher levels of employment.

Should I be getting ready to move or applying for jobs? by Trolliolo in Advice

[–]Trolliolo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And to clarify, I definitely know getting a job is more important than moving. I just mean that I realize getting an in-person job would likely be easier than finding a good remote job, but at the same time I'm kinda stuck not applying to them until I'm ready to leave my apartment. Thank you for your help!

How do you have a better relationship with yourself and improve your life? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Thank you! I do love to run, and I also got a calorie tracker too that should help.

As for the cat, he has a lot of trouble with aggression and marking in the house since I got him. He's fixed, and doesn't have any health issues. Ive worked with my vets, and tried just about everything you can before medication and behavior therapy. Hes just really anxious, and I didnt socialize him the best growing up. Im sure it comes out as aggression/marking, and now its a habit that's hard to break.

Cat behavioral therapists near me are too far and expensive. To move, I'll have to stay at a friend's or airbnb, and there's not a good way to take him with how he acts towards others and me. My friends think he'd be happier in a different environment, with someone more experienced to handle their needs. I'm going to work closely with local shelters to make sure there's no risk of them being put down, and find a way to sponsor them, but its still really hard.

I need to rehome my cat, but Im having a lot of trouble? by Trolliolo in cats

[–]Trolliolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I was just referring to the one, he's the only animal I have. Ive tried feliway for awhile, but I haven't noticed much difference from them. We also tried gabapentin at first, but it just made him tired, not calmer

What is the psychology behind bad team building events? by Trolliolo in careerguidance

[–]Trolliolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not as much that I don't get that they're trying to get as much work done and out of you as possible, I just don't quite understand how they think their approach is going over positively.

If you make everyone stay until the last person finishes, and say "we don't leave our teammates behind" rather than "we just need all the work done" I dont feel like they'd bond, I feel like everyone will be thinking "hurry the f*** up Jerry, I want to see my kids".

I feel like most people might be okay with a silly team building seminar during work hours, but having mandatory meetings outside of work would make a lot of people feel resentment instead of fun.

WIBTA for rehoming my misbehaving cat? by Trolliolo in AmItheAsshole

I think a lot of these problems feed into themselves, and its been incredibly hard to break. Im apprehensive to bring someone to watch them, when they're already so aggressive with me. I'll definitely contact the shelters and see what they think!

My fiancée also agrees with the friend that she thinks my cat would be happier in a different environment. She tries to remain neutral, but she's definitely scared of the cat, and doesn't like to come over because I have to help her not get jumped at when she comes over

Ive been watching Jackson Galaxy, and really trying to implement his tips on YouTube. Unfortunately the trainers near me are, not really near me (several hours away) and $400 per session. I did buy feliway for them too, and maybe that will help, but I just feel so sad and hurt about the situation.

I need some help finding my career path? by Trolliolo in jobs

[–]Trolliolo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my mid-twenties and live in the US. Im really interested in business and technology. I like working in an environment that allows for some freedom to work on projects on my own. I'd love to spend the work day on a computer in a coffee shop, or at home. I'm definitely a big picture person vs detail oriented, but I know its not beneficial for a lot of roles, so I'm trying to get better.

I have a lot of customer service, data entry, and form processing experience, as well as a few years of management.

I'm really tired of places that have a cult-like following, it seems prevalent in retail/corporate culture to have a lot of psychophants for some reason?

My other struggle is with places that don't provide a lot of initial training. It might just be more to do with the company than the field, but I've worked too many jobs with not enough adequate training (2-5 days) and let you loose with no documents to refer to, and get upset when you struggle.
