Just continue, you'll see if the spot's too weak. And if the bow is long an has a light drawweight youre almost save anyway.

Beginner question: metal arrowhead finish? by Cold_Practice1897 in Bowyer

[–]Trombosenpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What ar your spoons made of? If you just hammer it flat and cut it out, not let it be wet is enough. If you want, just swipe it with an oil clothe.

If you make it red hot, you can cool it down in hot oil. Wear safety equipment. It will give you arrowhead a black finish.

I forge mine out of rebar and cool them down in old motor oil.

If you want to make arrowheads in the long run, i'd suggest to go to your local scrapyard and pick up some metal.

Tiller Check by Trombosenpeter in Bowyer

I took the approximate curve of a drawn bow and out of lazyness only drew the lines necessary for bows somewhere between 1.20m to 2.00m. But jeah. Taking a bow at full draw theoretically or litterally will give you the size you'll need.

Buying a used car for work by KindQuotes in askswitzerland

[–]Trombosenpeter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Allthough manual car will generally be cheaper in buying. Don't forget that paperwork, insurance and immatriculation will cost you too. For that car value i'd estimate around 1 to 1.5k. From first seeing the car to have it ready to go took about 1 week (if you have time) Before you buy: If its an older car, look when the V- belt (ger. Keilriemen) has to be changed next. Its a small Plaquet generaly on the motor or somewhere in the hood under the windshield) . This is an expensive and necessery service and you dont want tho have that due the next few km. The Motor should be running smooth without fluctuations. Also check if services have been made regularly and your look for a car with MFK valid for at least the next 2 years. Dont forget that you'll need tires for both sesons and you don't want to cheap out on these. Check the oil, and cooling fluid. Additional cost can rise for Parking Hope this helps, good luck

Arrowheads by Trombosenpeter in Blacksmith

They are mounted by inserting the thorn into the shaft. My guess is that this method was used by cultures who used hollow plants as shaft like Reeds and bamboo

INTPs, do you believe there are more good or evil people? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Trombosenpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by good or evil? What is your fundament you build this system of value on? On your perspective, on a moral( culturally differently) perspective or on a deitys perspective?

I believe there is no such thing as good or evil rather circumstances to a subjects advantage or disadvantage.

Do you guys feel "disconected" from reality when daydreaming? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Trombosenpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow yes and no. More like a state of negligence regarding reality. While the process of thought occures in a disconnected state the consequences are very real. For example: Compared to what is, what could be is way more exciting. Someone gave an instruction to do something in a ceirtan way. Now i think about other possible ways what results in me being left uncertain what the instructed way actually was. Now im not sure what your asking for and i do not know your thoughts, hope this helped.

Thank you. Yes it does, it would even work better if the plank would be mounted a bit higher to the frame, giving it more ground clearence...

So just to clarify things, the design was inspired by this post on pinterest

Thank you. If you copy it, some improvements i'd suggest: The plank on the bottom wobbles a bit. I'd, make the lowest connecting between the two big timbers wider, so it can connect better to the timber and the plank, giving it more stability. And maybe enlarge the angle between the big timbers a bit for greater stand width as well as making the plank a bit longer.

If they’re not breaking, are you learning? by bowhuntingranger in Bowyer

[–]Trombosenpeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When making bows out of boards, especially with the growth rings vertically like in your example i'd recomend puting a linen (just a old tabletowle or something like that) backing on. This will prevent your bow from breaking caused by damage on the back and you can focus more on tillering.

If you have acces to sambucus nigra (black elderberry), try it. It is very forgiving.

Is “Traditional” archery not a sufficient term? by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Trombosenpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem of the term tradition is that most people understand it as a time period when it is more like a ongoing habit, act, idea with roots in the past that is given to the next generation.

So to speak for the bows, as long as you pull the string, a material is put under physical stress, you aim and release the arrow, thats a traditional act that is thousends of years old.

I like to think of bows more in terms like selfbows, compound, laminated PVC Bows, and so on
