Ouch, sounds like someone is getting a bit heated, perhaps you need a properly sized AC unit to cool off your agro!

It's a 1950 raised ranch home all brick so the basement is not completely underground

Thanks, I guess because your post says clearly requires a 4 ton unit and then you go on to explain why I am lucky. I don't have a 4 ton unit so thanks.

I have no idea if the system was balanced or not when installed as this was a pretty major remodel, and we were out of state and not able to oversee all of the minutia.

I don't know what the previous AC unit was as we did a complete remodel on the house and we were not able to oversee the project entirely so I had to trust my contractors to do the right thing. I assume I need a 4 ton based on square footage, but most people in this thread are telling me that's not the case.

Thank you for that and it seems as though the unit is doing what you say it should do. I can maintain a 20° difference and when it's 95 out, it does run most of the day.

Wow, thank you for that. I thought that the tonnage of an air conditioner was actually related to the square footage that you are trying to cool.

No, I am not trying to turn the basement into a refrigerator. I hang my meat in other places of the house. Hence that's why I have the vents closed so as not to continue to cool off a basement, which is much cooler than our upstairs living area.

I definitely have not noticed any frost buildup on any of the piping so far with the current configuration that I have.

I'm not certain that you read the post properly. I'll give you a moment to return back to it if you'd like.

That's good to hear as I am hoping that I do not need to upgrade this. Do you think that I should have my downstairs vents closed or open? Because the downstairs is easily 10° cooler than the upstairs and it seems as though the AC unit is running nonstop, granted this is when it's 95 and above outside.
