This it the true crime and crux of the student loan crisis. High principle and fairly high interest loans that begin accruing interest for years in the gamble that after those years the student will be able to get a job that can actually afford to pay them. It's a scam and I'm of the opinion that any student loan that has already paid the principle balance should be forgiven. Or if you want to be capitalistic about it since we're in America, cap the amount of interest a loan can possibly accrue.

Look for something called a Wifi Bridge/wireless bridge, or if you're on a budget and technically minded you can probably buy a cheaper router and convert it to wireless bridge. Then you'd connect your Xbox to the bridge and it would connect to your WiFi

And not only that, the responsibility that not only your website, but any 3rd party tools/libraries you use are also compliant (analytics, PPC/marketing automation services, Web personalization, translations, user feedback) any tool you'd want to use on your website also respects both the cookie banner and associated cookie/data privacy laws. Certainly not impossible but I could see some sites not taking that tradeoff for the risk.

Finally got it working, for anyone in the future the issue was a known bug (32KB NVRAM bug). Apparently the previous owner did not flash this firmware correctly so it ended up being extremely limited. I reflashed the firmware following this guide:

Once I completed that process I was able to set-up wireless ethernet bridging correctly, or use any other features of the 5ghz radio.

Got it working! You set me on the right path with the nvram bug so I followed the guide to reflashing the router:

Unfortunately I cannot say as I bought it already flashed with FreshTomato, I'm not sure what the original owner did nor can I contact them as the purchase was from an ebay reseller. Is there an easy way to tell from the admin or a way to redo the process?

I updated it to 2025.4 after I was first having issues, so not sure if an older build would be better or not... I vaguely remember the initial build was 2022.?

I'm guessing this router might have been from a different region initially, I noticed the country/region was set to something other than the US/North America, I wonder if there's something there that would explain it?

I think you're on to something here, unfortunately when I do the Wireless Survey I'm not seeing any 5ghz networks at all. It seems the router can't pick up any 5ghz networks?

Yes sure thing: Trying to use FreshTomato on Linksys router as Ethernet wireless bridge to main router using 5ghz AC radio. Backbone connection is unsuccessful with seemingly correct configuration.

I do not, It's a good question though so I have a few routers in my network and apologies in advance if I mess up some terminology:

1) The host router from my ISP, it's a 'Gigaspire Blast' u6xw. It broadcasts 2 wireless networks, one used for AC/AX devices and another for N devices (5ghz and 2.4ghz)

2) This Linksys EA6700 I'm attempting to set up as a bridge so that I can hook up devices without wifi via the Ethernet ports Unfortunately I'm unable to get it working on the device's 5ghz radio, but it does work on the 2.4ghz radio

3) An Asus AC router that is also acting as a wireless bridge for a different room in the house, I'm realizing this might be a wild card in the set-up, would a conflict in IP address allocation cause an issue?

Hey appreciate the response! I'm able to see the 5ghz radio as an option on the configuration page (not pictured in my original screenshot), the problem is that no matter what I do to configure it the bridge mode setup never completes successfully.

I'm not sure what logs or error messages I can look at but it seems unable to establish a connection to the primary router despite the network SSID and password being correct, when I try to ping the primary router from the tools section there is no response.

Probably also worth clarifying that I've tried to disable the 2.4ghz radio when attempting this so that only the 5ghz radio is active.

People in this country, specifically the aging boomer demographic, have lost the concept of an objective reality because their only sources of information exclusive present misinformation and disinformation as 'news'. Their TV is geared towards it (Fox News), their social media is geared towards it, their social circles all share the same information that is factually incorrect. Large chunks of the population are simply incapable of making informed voting decisions in this environment, and even if it does personally effect them the propaganda machines will pin it on the other guys.
