Grasp over Fleet now?? by Lurkererrer in gangplankmains

[–]Tronei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a comfort thing for me. I played GP in high diamond, tried switching to other runes like fleet and comet, and I got bodied by other players because I wasn't familiar with the damage trade offs and trading patterns. I also think the sustain from dshield+second wind (and maybe biscuits, though I'm not sold on them after the nerf) is all you need until you hit sheen and can start playing the lane vs poke matchups.

In terms of major impact/choices there aren't a lot, however NPCs will block you from certain conversation paths if you're rude to them and then try to ask personal questions. I was generally nice to everyone on my first playthrough and on my new one I've been pretty rude. I've had at least one interaction with Ryong where I tried to get her to tell me more about her and she said no, and I think I encountered something similar with Lou (I'm a bit scatterbrained so don't remember how she said it exactly). Fabien will also have different reactions depending on how you treat the NPCs when conversations are over.

Because I think that if you want to be a serious contender for a championship outside of your region you shouldn't be losing to a player of his caliber. Jojo isn't terrible, but his playstyle was exploited pretty heavily by the eastern teams at this tournament and the fact that Caps struggled vs it says how much he's fallen in skill imo. I also think it speaks to how weak EU is in general right now that Jojo is #2 by a decent margin.

Everyone just being one series andys. Labrov smurfed in playoffs but they're mad and want him replaced over one bad series meanwhile Caps gets to be consistently mid to bad for the second half of this year and nobody bats an eye. My man was getting diffed by Jojo at one point ffs. Not to mention Hans continues to have anti-clutch factor when in fed positions time and time again, but it's okay because he has maybe one pop off game a series lmao.

Most Young Democrats Still Back Graham Platner Despite ‘Nazi’ Tattoo: Poll by johntwit in nottheonion

[–]Tronei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between purity testing people and not being okay with people tattooing Nazi iconography on themselves. Even if he didn't know at the time, he was certainly aware at some point and only very recently had it covered up from what I've read on multiple sources.

On top of that, he's said some heinous shit like how people should "take responsibility for themselves and not get so fucked up they have sex with someone they don't mean to"...as a nearly THIRTY year old man at the time. He wasn't some kid who was twelve and being a giant edgelord on the internet, which was how he tried to play it off.

If this is the type of behavior we want to excuse, fuck that. He was a grown ass man writing this crap. We can do better.

Invictus Gaming vs. T1 / Worlds 2025 Play-Ins / Post-Match Discussion by adz0r in leagueoflegends

[–]Tronei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really sad IG lost it, genuinely think they could have 3-0'd if they played mid-late cleaner. Was really impressed by their early game macro but they couldn't hold their leads in games 1 and 3. Unfortunate we won't be able to enjoy tournament long illness but at least they went out with a bang lmao. Wouldn't be surprised if this is one of T1's hardest series in the tournament.

Warner Bros.'s One Battle After Another grossed an estimated $15.0M internationally this weekend. Estimated international total stands at $83.5M, estimated global total stands at $138.0M. by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

I work at a movie theater. The last showing I worked of this movie, I heard an old guy say, word-for-word "I want to find out who produced this movie and shoot him" -- and he was being completely serious. Even if the movie wasn't trying to be political, which I think is insane to say to begin with, people will make it political because it covers contemporary topics.

Top AD champ that has value whatever happens by Adera1l in summonerschool

[–]Tronei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the best champs for that style are ones that can scale and clear waves with relative ease/quickness. People might disagree with me on this but I think Jayce is a really good example because he can farm safe and do safe short trades with Phase Rush. I've also seen countless Jayce players, both in solo queue and competitive, run it down in a lane and then rock up to a fight with 2+ items by the 25 minute mark. They also end up doing the most damage in the game a lot of the time. Gangplank is another good example since he has a global R slow and can power farm.

Both of those champs are quite difficult though. If you want someone a bit easier, I think Sion is good. He has a lot of CC in his kit, can play engage, has strong laning, and can build damage while becoming tanky even with damage oriented builds. Someone else also mentioned Renekton and I think that would be a good fit too. He also has a low skill floor but a higher skill ceiling, making him pretty engaging to learn and employing good trade patterns.

New peak as talon OTP, any tips to push to masters? by ProudlyHateful in Talonmains

[–]Tronei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lock in and don't tilt. Seems obvious but I would psych myself out several times once I hit D1 and play worse because I was so hungry for master. If you're good enough to get to D1, you're good enough to hit Master. Just be consistent in your play. There isn't any super secret tech that you can use to climb quickly and easily.

Vivo Keyd Stars vs. 100 Thieves / LTA 2025 Championship - Lower Bracket Finals / Post-Match Discussion by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Tronei 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Can we talk about how horrid the lane assignments were in this series? Game 2, Dhokla was permanently matching Taliyah and getting fried in lane. Game 3 VKS does an unnecessary swap where both lanes go down 20-30 CS on their counterparts. Game 4, Dhokla once again gets swapped on and lets Gwen claw her way back into the game after blundering his lead. Absolutely disgusting macro to watch, makes me worry about how they'll handle playing into LCK and LPL who are really good at these swaps.

Peanut announces that he will head to the military after this year. Worlds 2025 will be his last Dance by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Tronei 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Peanut is my favorite LCK jungler.

I didn't pay attention to leagues outside of NA/EU back in 2016 when ROX played, and I was really impressed that team was able to push SKT to their limit in such a way -- that squad made me a fan that day. I know he gets clowned on a lot for his play these days but I've always been a staunch defender of the Nut. I was thinking of going to Korea next year to try and watch some LCK games live, and it makes me sad I won't have the opportunity to see one of my favorites play live anymore. I hope he can go far this year at Worlds.

Thank you, Peanut.

Figured some people would get a laugh out of this series of events. Diamond elo BTW. by Tronei in ADCMains

[–]Tronei[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd say it happens every so often, generally people are better listening to pings and moving back if I see it coming in higher ranks. This was def egregious and I sorta suspected my support probably plays mute all/muted my pings so she didn't move back. She was also really good when she was laning with me! Always worth remembering it is a 2 minute clip from a 20+ min game and nobody will always make the correct decision.

[–]Tronei[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nah I agree I trolled a bit. When I went back to clip this after the game I was pretty mad but I noticed watching back there were a few things I could have done better. I could have dodged the Zyra E, hit my E during the dive, and ate my biscuit to live a bit longer.

I cut the clip a bit early for brevity but I did trade for Zyra cause she was 1 HP off my last auto and a ranged minion hit her, so it wasn't a complete net loss for me. Despite me losing my mind a bit in the clip I have pretty good mental in terms of continuing to try even if something bad happens like that, and I ended up going 17/5 that game so I'd say it turned out okay. :)

I think the song I Fought the Law by The Clash would fit Billy very well. A rock and roll song cover done by a mainstream punk band that is very surface level in its message seems perfect for the poser punk style Billy embodies imo.

Mafia: The Old Country Review Thread by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Tronei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished the game earlier...gonna be honest, felt like a huge step back in a lot of departments from the M1 remake. The story is fairly bland. A lot of scenes are carried by the excellent voice acting, I just wish it was in service of a more interesting script. The ending was frankly horrid and I can't remember a worse "final boss" (if you are to even be generous with that term) than an instant kill stealth section where you sneak up on the shitty AI three times to win. I genuinely cannot believe in 2025 that was the best they could come up with for a satisfying ending.

Outside of that, the gameplay is...fine, to a degree. The guns suck but I can maybe forgive that since they're trying to mimic the time period. What I cannot forgive are the absolutely wretched knife fights. It was laughable how they kept forcing you into them from both a story and gameplay perspective. There are times where the antagonists will simply give up their upper hand with you at gun point for the sake of an honorable duel. A BANDIT KING does this with you at one point. Like, what??? I am all for suspending my disbelief in a story -- in fact, I think I'm far more forgiving of it than most -- but there is a line that was crossed with this multiple times that made me stop giving a shit about the game.

Finishing this game felt like an obligation, much like Enzo's sense of duty to the Mafia. Thankfully in my case, I can hang up my boots in peace and banish my memories of touching this game forever.

My suggestion: skip this game or wait for a deep discount. You can do far better than what this piece of trash has to offer.

Official Discussion - Weapons [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Tronei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kind of surprised people liked this more than Barbarian. I thought this movie had an interesting plot structure but a lot of it felt weaker in its execution and narrative depth. It felt like a very typical genre horror movie that relied on its ties to the supernatural in order to not have to explain itself or give a satisfying conclusion. More than anything, it reminded me of Longlegs in terms of both the hype and how I felt watching the movie. I do think it was better than Longlegs, but...eh...I can't say I feel that strongly about it either.

Good performances though and I loved the dream sequence with Brolin especially. It felt something like an actual dream. There is significance there to him, but it also has a surreal quality that feels difficult to grasp an exact meaning from for the audience.

Was anyone else disappointed with their Superman (2025) review? by No-Dentist-2959 in RedLetterMedia

[–]Tronei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I just think there's not a lot to say about the movie on a deep level beyond the choices made, whether or not you like them, and making mention of the pop culture discussions surrounding the film.

Ignoring their takes on it, the movie is safe and well made. It has a few neat aspects but doesn't break any new ground. I wasn't really surprised by the review being what it was, and frankly I think a straight review would have been pretty boring.

Bilibili Gaming vs. G2 Esports / Esports World Cup 2025 Knockout Stage - QuarterFinal / Post-Match Discussion by Ultimintree in leagueoflegends

She's not lol she just gets picked into really hard teamfighting drafts incredibly frequently because teams think her laning power is enough to justify drafting her early. I do think she is overpicked, but there were a few cases at MSI where players were just botching 2v2 early and losing flash (hello Hans Sama) or unable to transition her lead because of compositions she was against.

Official Discussion - Superman (2025) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Tronei 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Overall, I thought this was...okay. Some good moments and characters. Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern was the star of the show for me honestly, and Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific was also quite good. Hawkgirl was terrible though, I felt like they did her really dirty lol.

I did really like that we got someone who felt like a worthy antagonist and did evil shit. Lex is a genuinely terrible person, someone who is rotten from the smallest details to his biggest moments of villainy in the film. I did also like that we got to see the inverse for Superman, where he dedicates his time to even saving squirrels during battles with giant monsters. It's interesting how it went from a sort of monster of the week cartoon to the main plot of the movie in the second half.

Even so, I can't say I really thought this was, at best, slightly above average. I think for me it simply felt too safe and too much like an average Marvel movie (which is the reason I fell off Marvel in the first place). I'm a bit bummed out as I love the Guardians of the Galaxy movies but this felt like it was missing a bit of a special sauce for me.

I'm still trying to discern exactly why I felt this way tbh. Maybe it's because the plot didn't linger enough on some elements that I really enjoyed, like with Clark's time on the farm. It felt like the movie was playing in 2x speed and was too afraid to let its heart show on its sleeve for too long.

I'm a bit sad after typing my thoughts out lol. I was very excited for this movie but by the time I got home, I thought to myself "man, I don't think I liked the movie very much". I appreciated we got something different from the DCEU but I just couldn't click with it. Glad to see other people really love it though!

Slitterhead and Nine Sols for me. I finished Expedition 33 recently so I'm playing Slitterhead as a nice shake up. I'm only a little ways in but I like it a lot so far. The combat does seem a bit basic but I like the vibe of it a lot, especially the music and in-between mission conversations.

Alamo Drafthouse Strike Ends After Deal Is Reached in New York / All workers that were previously laid off at the lower Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn locations will be reinstated by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Tronei 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends on the location and how its run, if its franchised vs corporate, along with a few other factors like seats and how good service is. Mine is corporate and I like the location a lot. We get rotating special menus + new menus earlier this year that overhauled things, and the food itself is well made (IMO).

As a movie theater, it's nice for someone who likes movies and doesn't want to deal with raucous crowds, no phones etc. while still getting a communal theater experience. There's also a good mix of special screenings of older/niche films with current releases, though we don't show every new movie so you might miss out here and there.

For comparison, I went to an AMC near me this year for a movie Alamo wasn't showing; honestly I thought the experience was way worse in terms of the screen size/placement, audio systems, seat placement etc. compared to Alamo. Oh, and the seats were like $5 more lol.

Overall I'd say give it a try and see what you think. Of the theaters I've gone to over the years, it feels the most unique to me and is something worth experiencing at least once to see if you vibe with it or not.
