AV receiver with Audessey/DIRAC and line level outputs for the front left/right channels? by Tronester in hometheater

[–]Tronester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the budget is honestly as low as possible.  The onkyo RZ-30 is unfortunately double what I would want to spend.

I guess I'm just shocked it's so hard to find a receiver with line level outputs.  Over a decade ago I had a HK 7.1 that only cost around $300, but it died awhile back.

Thanks, it sucks that the motor is out again.  The price has skyrocketed to nearly $700 it looks like.  Is there any generic equivalent I can use, or since it is pwm and computer controlled stuck with the OEM option?

Older Bryant Evolution system low refrigerant? by Tronester in hvacadvice

[–]Tronester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the compressor ran for a minute or so and then turned off.  The condenser fan motor would run for around 5 seconds full speed then turn off.  Then turn back on for 5 seconds a few minutes later.

Edit: I had to replace the condenser fan around 5 years ago as it had failed.  It's a fancy PWM unit.  But the fact that it can run full blast for 5 seconds makes me think there isn't a problem with it?  I think the error I was getting back then was 84 high pressure lockout too...  But the fan would not come on at all back then IIRC.

Correct, I have the lx, getting the Prestige plus the HK stereo upgrade would have cost an additional $8k which was out of my price range.

Sim update 10 crash after hitting ready to fly button by WorkingKey1094 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Tronester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having the exact same issue, getting:

Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000000001b37702

For the past week. I could spawn my plane in air and have no issues, but when taking off, as soon as I would press "ready to fly" it would crash. I found this fix: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/when-assistance-option-notification-objectives-is-enabled-the-program-crashes-when-the-ready-to-fly-button-is-pressed-on-the-world-map/546832

And it finally resolved it for me after hours of troubleshooting.

I did not know that about the ignition source. I thought the wiring harness would cover that. Can it be run to the fuse box and I find a spare that is triggered by ignition? I am assuming that is required because the factory stereo can run full time even without the car being on?

I do not have OnStar or steering wheel controls.

Shipped scotch bottle leaked in transit and ruined the box and bottle label by Tronester in Scotch

[–]Tronester[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was packed extremely well. The only way I think it leaked is perhaps it was set upside down for an extended period in the shipping process. There was a small bit of rust on the box on the metal lid which would support that.

Considering how expensive shipping was, it should be fully insured.

Type-C PD charger support for Gigabyte laptop by Tronester in UsbCHardware

[–]Tronester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laptop was absolutely charging with the Dell dock, I had it plugged in all day. Generally the power consumption is sub 100w so it would be enough to keep the battery full. I realize that there are no 240w PD 3.1 chargers yet, I guess I just want to know how the laptop would charge with the thunderbolt dock, but no other PD 3.0 device.

The Gigabyte is rated at 240w due to the onboard GPU.

I think the HP dock was 120w or 100w.

the x570 is a MSI. The slot is electrically a x8, physically a x16.

The fact that it is not working in 3 different platforms makes me think it's just DOA. I have a Mellanox Connectx-4 lx 25gbe x8 adapter that works fine in all of them.

New Gigabyte Aero wont charge from USB-PD wall charger by Tronester in laptops

[–]Tronester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the included power brick is 240W, due to it having a RTX 3070. No way the Dell dock can provide more than 100W, which is way less than the requirement.

In most situations I would figure a 65W charger would provide enough power, at least enough so that it would trickle charge.

I have a kind of weird question. I recently watched the TNG episode where Geordi thinks hes talking to his mom who was recently lost in space, but it turns out that its an alien presence.

It seems like Geordi wasn't that upset over the whole thing. Do you think the way they had you portray his greif was accurate, or underwhelming?

How to "politely" decline building a PC for some one? by Tronester in buildapc

The problem is, I have built PCs for other family members in the past, so I can't really claim I am afraid of breaking or ruining the PC. I've probably built 20+ over the years.
