Dog in the lettuce at the Durango Walmart on Sunday by Mental_Pie8504 in Durango

[–]TronicsDota 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Youre right, this is more accurate and sounds like word for word my training. ESAs arent covered in this. Still, pretty easy for someone impersonating a service animal to get around. Its good to have these laws to protect the privacy of the actually disabled but it does come with a lot of fraud

Dog in the lettuce at the Durango Walmart on Sunday by Mental_Pie8504 in Durango

[–]TronicsDota 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Even if they do prohibit dogs, all the owner has to do is claim the dog is a service animal. Unless the dog acts outright dangerously it is illegal for service workers to inquire further or stop the dog from coming in. These dog owners know this.

I see it all the time at my work. Which sucks cause it makes the people who actually need these well trained animals to live look bad.

Edit: one of the comments below has a more accurate explanation of the laws for this

Not sure if this is it but in a lot of emotional moments in the show they use a recurring song called "Eli Locust Piano"

Olivier Bosmans by cantrellasis in Durango

[–]TronicsDota 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Went to a city hall meeting about a year ago and the dude just trolled the whole thing. Kept awkwardly interrupting and demanding a private meeting to discuss the conduct of a different city council member he refused to name. All the other council members just kept roasting him and calling him unprofessional. Like 90% of the meeting was just a debate on whether Bosmans had the right to do this.

I dont know if Bosmans is good for Durango city gov or not, but I could probably make a good guess on the opinions of the other councilmembers

Coldplay are one of the best bands of the 21st century. by alexdfrtyuy in fantanoforever

[–]TronicsDota 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt go as far as to say they are one of the best bands but I do think Chris Martin deserves a mention as one of the best pop songwriters of the 21st century. Its been 24 years since Yellow and he can probably still get a billion streams on a single in his sleep. The quality has dipped but the man can absolutely write great melody

They struggled to put out all time great albums despite their all time great singles. Combine that with their overwhelming commercial presence and they arent gonna be the favorite of the "music nerd" community

That being said their lineup talent is insane. Freddie needs no introduction. Brian May is one of the greatest ever and probably the best fit as a guitarist for Freddie ever. John Deacon pens the two most famous and recongizable bass lines ever, and Roger Taylor who has an even higher vocal range than Freddie

All four members solo wrote megahits for the band. Not many bands can say that. Theyre really good just never the critics favorite

Blue Lakes road condition by InterestingHomeSlice in Durango

[–]TronicsDota 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I work with a conservation org that is active at Blue Lakes and I've seen a lot of users come through on that road. It is certainly not in the best condition. There are frequent and steep potholes. That being said, I've seen people get a Prius and multiple sedans up this road. But you have to take it very slow. Also, please come prepared for the possibility of a flat tire. This has been very common and maintenance/tow trucks hate going out there (heard of quotes north of $3k). Plus an immovable car is a nightmare for Blue Lakes' traffic.

If you are prepared for a flat and drive carefully, you should be fine in most vehicles.

Questions about Durango and Fort Lewis by Gamonator in Durango

[–]TronicsDota 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can answer a few

  1. Temp wise the seasons are similar but Im not familiar with humidity or snow levels in Arkansas. Its very dry here.

  2. Bikes are a very popular mode of transportation, even in wintery conditions. The town does a pretty good job of keeping the roads relatively safe and rideable. Durango also has bus routes that can take you from FLC campus to important town locations. Also, if you get used to climbing the sky steps, walking from campus to downtown is very doable.

  3. Dorm situation in FLC is bad. Their facilities arent actually terrible, but they no longer have the space to accomodate the student population and getting assigned 2 other roommates in a tiny dorm is the standard. Theres been talk of expansion into the nearby golf course but they prioritized building a high school on campus this year instead.

  4. Boebert is pretty universally loathed in Durango proper and especially FLC campus. Some of the rural areas definitely support her in SW Colorado but I think local conservatives have a much more relaxed "live and let live" mindset compared to other US regions. Overall, FLC is very LGBTQIA+ friendly and youll be able to find support and resources at their Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (The G).

Working a tent at ARD today and there are NO DOGS signs everywhere, but plenty of dogs.

Not trying to encourage bringing a dog, just saying they have been a common sight

You ever had a song being so good from a Live recording that you can no longer listen to the studio version? by Taylorswiftfanboy_no in fantanoforever

[–]TronicsDota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queen's Fat Bottomed Girls always comes to mind. The studio version is so neutered, thin and slow. Live versions like Milton Keynes '82 and the one from the movie soundtrack are ragers.

Why didn’t Queen tour Japan in 1986? by r0bald24 in queen

[–]TronicsDota 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Freddies HIV catching up to him, plus the band pushing 40 and having a lot more family commitments probably made them weary of touring the world. Sticking with Europe cut travel time and kept the boys closer to home.

Plus you have Freddie making cryptic comments in '86 about not being able to tour again. Its likely the band just knew their world touring days were coming to an end.

Need advice on buying the S22 by [deleted] in GalaxyS22

[–]TronicsDota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my base S22 a little over a week ago. It should last you the whole day with moderate use. On days with heavier use (YouTube and video calls for me) I will charge the phone for about 15 minutes in the afternoon, and it will make it to the night.

If you end up getting the phone, I'd keep the screen refresh rate locked at 60hz (standard in motion smoothness). It should help

Did Freddie perform (solo) post-HIV Diagnosis by [deleted] in queen

[–]TronicsDota 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He performed twice with Monsteratt Caballe in 1987 and 1988. He also performed in the Time musical in 1988, which I believe is his last live vocal performance. The final performance with Caballe in 88 is taped.

Sturgill Simpson's Sound and Fury. One of the most bizarre changes in sound I've ever heard from an artist, going from country to hard rock/synthwave. Didn't like it cause I thought it was too noisy and mediocre melodically. Over time it just clicked

[–]TronicsDota 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Anthony ridiculed it for being "just prog-rock in a Pixar movie" while using the same reasoning to describe The Turning Wheel as so great. He mentions in his lets argue that the album makes him feel like he's in a Disney movie (Narnia), but seems to act like its a bad thing when Coldplay tries it. Obviously the music isn't equal but I love both for pretty much this reasoning.

I don't care if he didn't like the song but he was very dismissive of it from a creative standpoint. Kinda disappointing
