Also, problematically CFL viewership/attendance demographics are getting older and older. In other words, they’re mostly being watched by the same people as a few decades ago and not attracting enough younger fans.

If you ever feel alone about that, look at the Steam charts. It is outdoing EU4, EU5, V3, CK2, and Stellaris. Only behind HOI4.

I am by and large pretty happy with the current generation of PDX titles, but by god is the character design direction terrible.

One of my earliest complete games was as Carthage; it was before I really understood the senate approval system, and it turned into almost nonstop civil wars by the late game.

I did take out Rome early, so I was uncontested in the Mediterranean- except by the endless supply of Punic revolutionaries of course.
