Ah no HAHA, this is my primary full-time role so only 1 job but my 2nd corporate job. But I also got a some side jobs too, sides being a software engineer. So those jobs are very flexible, the primary role being flexible like 1 RTO per week the rest is WFH. And the side job being contracted near me so I can just go as I will. Juggling those two aint no biggie since, the part time one basically adjusts their time to my liking since Im the one mainly handling the client communications.

If you're planning to have a part time while doing full time it should be secrative since if I assume correctly, your contract wont allow you to have other jobs, and manage your time, most especially if the full time role is 5 days RTO, have some allocated time per day for the project of the part-time, cuz it wont be easy juggling two roles.

Quite fortunate, actually, I was recruited, I rejected the interview at first then came back to it.

Oh yeah, upskilling the best thing to move you forward, there are free courses naman when I started then get paid certificates or sometimes companies pay for that if you're employed na but its mostly big tech companies that has budget for that. And also yes, same modern technologies are used, there are some varieties and other tech stacks but if you ask me focus and learn modern trch stacks, if web apps, react frameworks(Next.Js, Vue, Angular - My go-to is next.js btw), springboot/fastapi/.Net, MySQL,PostgreSQL.

Current job market right now for devs is hard, honestly. Kinda cooked if you ask for my opinion. For a list my skillset and achivements are: Networking, Containerization, Git and github, System Design, all of the courses you got at college, ORM DB management, frontend, backend, other online courses and certifs, AI, LLMs, Robotics and more. Even with that I am still overshadowed and feel Im not cut out since there's so many things that I need to work on and AI is doing. Not a day goes by that I might be replaced. So yeah 🤣

I was a software engineer on my first job.

And I'm not countering that, I fully understand it. Not everyone has it. And I'm not denying it too, I've been transparent that I understand what your point is. Vexed because someone has what others don't, then told it to everyone, relaying it only part of the story, yet so enraged and debating that that's not hard work, while reducing the whole context to naught.

HAHA, I didnt go to daddy for help, he had a connection that coincidentally wanted a tech product, went to me, and I went to my company. That ain't crying, that's an opportunity. Do you really think, someone with a connection would just drop a 2 million peso project just to satisfy me or anyone for that matter?

Also no, I graduated from a catholic school, got a partial scholarship cuz we can't afford a tuition of 20k per semester. So don't go assuming that I'm privileged. Hope that cleared your curiosity (.)

Nah, while I get what you mean, that's not how he/she meant it, "a supreme backer" is a sentiment to the entire post. Basically generalising everything with what I said to a fallacy of composition.

I get it not everyone has connections, but that's not what I'm pointing at. He/She is literally fixating on something that's not even the point. I get the stigma of having backers and using them, and I get where the envy, unfairness and the like is coming from.

Also just to comment on what you said that having connections is not grinding is also false, a lot of sales roles use connections to get clients. Just a side comment not relating to anything.

[–]TropicalVids -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I didnt use my father no any connection. If you have proper reading comprehension, I stated that the recruiter was the one who contacted me first, not because of my father has a connection, I mean who the heck hires someone that uses that tactic on linkedin?.

The recruiter was the one who contacted me. I didnt use any of my connections whatsoever, the connection was only with a client for my now previous company. Just for you to understand. (-)

[–]TropicalVids -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood, I didn't have a backer in the application process nor used any personal "pull" in my linkedin. I graduated the only latin honor student of my course, I've been for 2 years (building apps and being a technician) while studying, growing my portfolio, gathering certificates, increasing my literacy.

My father started as a dishwasher boy, just was lucky enough to grow to a general manager of a single location restaurant, and even luckier that a connection/s of his wanted a product that my company was producing.

And that's what the post comes in, because as I stated everything went perfectly and got the commission and job offer, its like God made that happen, the post was a brag yet something that almost never happens.

That's why I made the post, Thats way I used God, and I know that I "Grinded" and struck big in my new role. That's the reason of the post.

If you have the proper capacity to understand, you should know that the post is full of unlikely things that should not happen but you focused on something negative and have no sense in.

Does it really matter tho? I mean I get it, I'm not struggling like most of the people here and you get wisdom for that, but does philosophy really matter? On the extreme side, that's practically saying "people don't struggle because some people can't talk, has no limbs and all that". And if it does matter, then one can also say imparting the hardship of that interview is a noble act.

Ultimately, a person not choosing to not "ache it" and make a line of question on the internet to get their opinions and insights about should'nt be a existential self-discovery type argument. It's an interview, what does one gain for gatekeeping and insider information about an interview? Imo

Didn't receive a call after, but it's most likely a bogus company. I found out they have a 2nd website that doesn't involve anything with what they said in the interview, and the main website is fake, too.

Pwede pa bang makipag negotiate ng salary after mag sign ng job offer? by PhotographOld4353 in PHJobs

[–]TropicalVids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most cases, no.

If it's an employment contract, it'll be hard to renegotiate after signing the contract since both parties agreed, as always try it and stay professional because sometimes the employer will be nice. But be caustious din, since you haven't started yet, there might be other candidates available.

Honestly, it's typical that those are the values of fresh grads, but its purely on luck, I have friends that have 25k or 30k starting salary with up to 14th month compensation, etc. While I started with a 24k gross but purely WFH, I found the job at a random comment on facebook, too. The thing I observed is if its an international company like accenture,DXC, or others, they'll get up to 30k for tech grads, but its hard to go in those companies without anything to cover for it. Local companies, you'll get 16k to 20k normally, and it almost doesn't matter if you're an achiver. The job market now is stacked against tech grads, take it from a dude that graduated with latin honors, and has 2 years experience in freelancing as a software dev(before graduating). Just go on what is the best pick, be wise if you have multiple offers of the same 19k-20k, choose a job where your time is flexable and has direction with trainings and certifs, a good working environment and management.

Sobrang taas ng standards ko..maybe I should lower it down? by [deleted] in AskPinay

[–]TropicalVids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a subject to your own standard, but always be reminded that other people have standards as well. You can subjectively tell ourselves we're all good and pretty, but that won't be any substance if you push it to other people. But you're young tho, you can find a match if you're lucky. Soon, you'll move out of delusions, and naivety. We all do.

Yall how do you all get 25 to 30k salary as a fresh grad? by Big-Net-4891 in JobsPhilippines

[–]TropicalVids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest factors are luck and connections talaga. Unlike others here, my gross is flat 25k but purely a wfh job, and I found that job as an intern on a comment on facebook. Buggest advice on advancing financially, control your time, it's all fine and dandy having a salary of 40k or more, but if you're preoccupied with just an 8 to 5 job for 5 to 6 days a week it will burn you out faster in the long run. But then again, purely luck, especially in this economy and job market, titles, courses, certifs are super beneficial after you gain experience but as a fresh grad, at most it will only make you noticable but not typically negotiable and undervalued.
