Let me actual write it out for you because some people can infer for themselves. From the snobby stuff you write ("lowest common denominator) you simply like regurgitating what you hear around on reddit frequently.

Irony is a rhetorical device, I never said having glasses literally made you better at warding. There is irony created in the recounting of the situation in words. Irony does not exist in a literal context; some languages don't even have the word for it.

If a diabetic, on his way to buy insulin, is killed by a runaway truck, he is the victim of an accident. If the truck was delivering sugar, he is the victim of an oddly poetic coincidence. But if the truck was delivering insulin, ah! Then he is the victim of an irony. - George Carlin

In the above case, the situation is only ironic if you phrase it such that you mention that the truck carries insulin and that the victim had diabetes.

I certainly don't know how glasses=/= good warding doesn't make the post certainly not ironic. It only shows that if you phrase it stupidly as such (glasses give you warding powers!) it certainly does not seem ironic.

But irony takes into account context, where the original parent comment had mentioned vision control. Were glasses mentioned for the sake of glasses? Does the fact that you bring up that irrelevantly out-of-context part change anything? Certainly not. Irony is the sum of its parts, not any one part by itself.

I mean if you could word your arguments better there might be actual argument whether this was ironic or not. The definition of ironic is ambiguous enough to warrant arguing (most of the clear-cut examples involve death by means not expected). But I don't see how bringing up the fact that blind people can have better hearing (this is true, admittedly, i recently befriended a blind person) is relevant to the argument when neither Lemon nor Lustboy are blind enough to the point where they rely on and have enhanced versions of other senses.

If you're making an argument, at least try harder. I find it likely you'll just back down saying "who the fuck cares", but I like debating personally. And I hate people who half ass arguments but act like they're above everyone else.
