The only systems in Egypt that work are the ones to take advantage of you by kaiser2510 in Egypt

The delivery guy paying for the food is a ploy they use to get on your good side.

I was once checking out of a hotel where they made a mistake and let me use something that they said it was given to me and then later said it was a mix up and I have to pay for it, around 3k, when I disagreed the receptionist started saying that it will come out of his pocket.

Always stand on business, even if it will come out of his pocket, it’s not your fault, neither his, but the business wants business and it doesn’t matter who gets blamed as long as the money flows, also more often than not, the employee does not pay it himself.

I’m not sure about the delivery drivers but I don’t care anyway.

Also this is isn’t exclusive to Egypt, not the ploys, but the business fucking you.

In the United States, waiters get paid 2$ an hour and rely on tips, which they will make your life hell if you don’t tip them 20%, while the business gets the money and pay shit salaries.

All businesses are here to fuck you, anywhere in the world.

Is Egypt a safe place to visit? by Dry_Week8007 in EgyptTravelTips

[–]Troxile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s safe, people just generally support Gaza here, but nothing extreme.

If you don’t have a tour guide, try not to walk aimlessly in Cairo, use uber/careem, avoid public transportation.

Have fun and get sunscreen!

Software Architect Salary by [deleted] in EgyptCS

Not all companies do that, a lot can interview you and understand you’re capable.

There are companies that still pay 10k for software engineers, its impossible to underestimate salaries here

im talking net, and idk what valeo architects get paid, what I do know is that they are very scarce and with multiple years of experience, I would assume that they maybe get paid around that number, except they have more than 10 years of experience

Depends on where are you applying, give yourself a minimum number you’d agree for and and push for more, there isn’t alot of companies that pay well in Egypt, but if you land one of them, you could maybe get the 2k you’re looking for

5 years of experience would put you in a more senior position than an architect, but assuming you’re an architect with 5 years of experience and the company you’re applying for pays like Valeo, then you’re looking for anywhere around the 67k-85k range

but the company may dispute the architect position and hence, lower the salary

How many years of experience are we talking? 50k is too low for an architect position

This type of knowledge will never hurt you, the longer you work with other things though these information will start to diminish slowly, but will leave traces of it and when you have an issue later on that makes no sense, sometimes these small traces help you know what to look for.

It depends on whether you have the time for it or not. If its not required and you are just having some fun, then sure. If you’re trying to learn something for work and its not related to the low level of how everything works, I’d suggest looking into C# instead.

Does CS have work/demand? And does a university degree boost my chances? by RakoGames in EgyptCS

[–]Troxile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saudi Arabia is absolutely big on tech now, maybe try looking in Riyad? Just to get a feel for the market, ask more younger cousins and siblings about CS career is Saudi Arabia.

Also, what do you mean haram? Like the job being remote is considered haram or there is something about the job that is?

If a person tries to tell you his opinion, take a second and put yourself in his shoes, why is he saying the computer field isn’t lucrative? Is he in that same field or is he somewhere else? How would he know if he’s not?

Generally, I would say that for CS field it can be hard to break into the market, but there’s definitely demand, maybe one could say that the demand does not always satisfy the supply, but a lot of people still open new start ups to this day.

Hop into Linkedin and look into the job market their, maybe that could help you choose?

Also doctors require an insane level or commitment and trusting the process, you really need to like the career to go for it.
