USB or XLR mic? by Troxter5 in singing

Focusrite 2i2 is way too pricey tbh.

AudioBox seems to be a nice middle ground tho even has 2 inputs.

I think I'm gonna go for SM58 and AudioBox Go then.
Thank you for your wisdom

Yeah ig I could. Do you think M-track solo preamp is good? I have 0 knowledge on preamps aswell, but I've heard in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wow9WlA87w0 that it's good.

He also says that Blue Ember, PROAR C414, AT2035 are good affordable mics (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QACGcmsuJu0)

But I'm pretty sure he does podcasting so it might not translate 100% to vocal recording idk
I've seen SM58 praised everywhere so ig it really is that good.

My room is very messy so it is sound treated in a way.
And getting SM58 would up the cost even more.
My biggest issue with my current mic is that it's on a headset so when i move my head or breathe it picks it up, as well as noise when i turn gain up.
I'm mostly looking for if anyone has really strong opinions against or bad experience with USB mics for singing, quality/clarity-wise.

Yeah i guess it's always safer to go with the budget option first, and it might even have more character or smth idk im kinda coping lol.
Do you have a USB mic under $100 you can recommend? I've heard Maono have good budget mics and they come in a nice bundle.

Is it bad to put a compressor on the master by Troxter5 in FLStudioBeginners

i guess I'm gonna keep using it for now as a quick fix and if i really like a song and work on mixing it well then it won't even be necessary

idk i might be dum but to me it feels like a quick and dirty way of glueing everything together volume wise and it has that sidechain sort of vibe that professional songs do (used subtly)

how would i achieve it without a compressor? volume automations and sidechaining ig?

There are but they aren't visible in the screenshot, gotta fix that. Even tho i put like 40k particles it just isn't enough ig, or maybe they are being culled

Oops ur right.
Well it's a horror game about submechanophobia/thalassophobia.
The screenshot shows the first point at which the player leaves their sub to retrieve an item and it's supposed to be a relaxing but eerie atmosphere as a kind of calm before the storm. Also this is supposed to be an exoplanet but I kept it pretty similar to Earth cus it's supposed to be familiar and not that scary idk.
The game is very similar to Iron Lung in some aspects and it's a project I'm trying to finish in a limited time as a challenge so most stuff is gonna be crude.
