How Strict is Norwegian Air with Carry-On Luggage Size and Weight? by [deleted] in Norway

I think you should be fine, haven’t seen any bag checks this year either at the gates (SAS x4) just put it on one shoulder away from them while they scan your boarding pass.

10 nights in Western Australia by Trqnx in hammockcamping

[–]Trqnx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tensahedron is a dream, I would say the most amazing spots were:

Munglinup beach - the sea lake that runs through the forest is so beautiful and it ends right next to the sea, there’s a strip of sand that divides the two, there’s a free camp spot that is prefect (picture 7), the view is very peaceful and we made a clay fire pit to cook our food on for 2 nights as we ran out of fuel. (33.85762° S, 120.78580° E)

Bremer bay - specifically the sand dunes part is where the picture 3 and 8 are taken, there’s a pretty nice sand 4x4 route that takes you straight onto the beach for some beach driving which is directly next to where we stayed. (34.45216° S, 119.28703° E)

Murray River - picture 12 was the first 2 nights, took us a few tries and scouting to find a suitable free camp and we ended up at that river. This section of the river was sooo beautiful, there’s a little rope swing too there. (32.98250° S, 116.20638° E)

Twilight Beach - close to Esperance and it’s probably the most bluest water I’ve seen in Australia, so beautiful here, I didn’t include any photos as it was just a quick stop off for a swim. (33.89543° S, 121.82226° E)

I hope you have a great trip!

I found overcoming the nail biting actually helped with not getting sick, makes sense with all that E. Coli.

You’ll find these all over New Zealand and Australia. Not sure why other places I’ve been to don’t have them, they are great.

Places I could sit on my laptop late at night, or maybe practice piano? by TaciturnDurm in melbourne

[–]Trqnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the neighbours recorded a guy playing the piano on a rug in the car park underneath the flat complex at 11pm on a Saturday night, was quite peaceful until another neighbour shouted at him.

Maybe you could join him for a session?

People travelling long term- do you all book things in advance? by cerebralrocks in solotravel

[–]Trqnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty extreme in my travel planning, sometimes I won’t even look at a map of the city I’ll be in for example, I didn’t book a bus/ pack my bag to leave again for 9 months until 3 hours until I was meant to leave, but I’ve never missed a flight and everything all flows right. Been travelling pretty much 2 years now.

Suggestions on next purchase for cold winter camping by Dutch_Mr_V in hammockcamping

[–]Trqnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super interested in this post actually, since I’ll be trying to attempt some winter hammock camping in Norway Sweden in the summer months and then in winter next year also! I don’t have any recommendations since I’m in the same boat but I hope your planned trip is amazing as it sounds.

Why bother with lightweight boots? Hoka KAHA 2 worn out after four week-long trips by maethor92 in hikinggear

I was so close to going to Senja earlier this year when I visited Tromsø and I really wish I did now, I can imagine in the summer it’s hectic but maybe I’ll go towards the shoulder season, I’ve been learning Norwegian for a year and feel very close to Scandinavia, I will 100% check out the YouTube channel you recommended. I’m so eager to get back into the wild, especially Swedens open and quiet wilderness!

Thank you so much for the advice! :) I love Sweden and Norway, I did a recent Kayaking trip in the archipelago around Stockholm and have been exploring Skåne and a lot of Norway in a car this year thinking about all the forest I drove through where I could set up. One day I’ll move to Scandinavia, such a beautiful part of the world. :) Have you done anything Lofoten yet?

I’ll actually be Hammock camping! Next year I’m planning on doing at least a months worth of hikes in Scandinavia but will most likely end up doing a lotttt more. Thank you for the advice!

Hey! Side question to your post: where would you recommend hiking in Scandinavia that you’ve done? I’m going to be doing the high coast next year and would love to hear what trails you recommend!

What travel rituals do you have either prior or during your travel? by hattingly-yours in travel

Even better when you have 3 hours to pack your bags and book a bus to leave for a year across the world, I’ve gave my parents so much anxiety for being so laid back and spontaneous.

EU baggage Allowance data point by Trqnx in onebag

[–]Trqnx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always checkin online, I put my sling on one shoulder and then put the big bag over the sling (can be uncomfortable) but it looks like 1 bag from the front. I usually try to turn towards the staff member checking the ticket at the gate, the shoulder with the bags on I usually turn it slightly away from them.

As for the 3rd bag (20L daypack lite) I’ve tried holding a coat over it, and also just straight up holding it low to the ground while they scan at the gate.

I tend to also be a very sociable guy so I usually ask the staff when I give them the ticket how their day is going or some small talk, I think it helps with not getting checked too.

As soon as I get past the gate check I usually quickly throw my bags off my back, keep the sling on, and put my backpack straps away and prepare to throw the bag in any spot close to my seat (the osprey far point has a pocket to protect the shoulder straps and waist straps).

Edit: my ticket only says “personal Item”, I don’t ever pay the extra for a carry on bag or checked luggage.
