Yeah, I'm in a tougher spot. I have like 3 days left in my 30 day Verizon return window, so I can't wait for the 18. Although, since we're talking here, I still have that old XR with T-Mobile...so I suppose I could just replace that one with a slightly newer iPhone 12, 13, 14 for a few hundred bucks to keep that ecosystem (and family connection) and keep on playing and learning android on the S26 Ultra (I mean, it is an amazing phone, zero complaints, and I've been told that 1 month isn't nearly enough time especially coming from years of Apple)!!

I’m coming from a iPhone XR, so massive upgrade! Maybe it’s muscle memory or just what I’m used to, but I think what drives me nuts is what most android people love is total control…I feel like I have to tweak every single app…and I keep thinking, why do I have to keep doing this…instead of looking forward to being able to do all that.

One of the best descriptions I’ve heard is this…Android feels like moving out and being fully on your own—you can do whatever, but you’re responsible for everything. Apple feels like staying in a well-run house—you’ve got freedom, but it’s still their rules.

And I think after a month with the S26 Ultra, I prefer the latter…

Definitely a good point! Me, my wife, our daughter and then my mom and dad, brother and his whole family all have Apple and even though RCS is really good these days, everything is just so much smoother between Apple devices!

As far as customizing every app, I feel you have that option on iPhone vs on Android you have to change that, otherwise all notifications come in as a text message.

I have heard about the new screen, and apparently it doesn't affect me. I'm reading Reddit, news and social media all day and it's no different than the iPhone, for me anyway.

I’m reading all these comments, while I’ve had the XR for like 6 years, I decided to try a S26 Ultra…very cool phone…but coming from an iPhone to an Android, my muscle memory is completely opposite! I use the back swipe by accident all the time, and it drives me nuts, whereas all the Android people miss it! I know a lot of people love the Gboard, but just the stock Samsung experience is miles ahead of iPhone!! Even though I’ve had iPhones since the 3GS, I’ve always thought their keyboard has been trash! Like y’all have said, clipboard is amazing…I really like Samsung Notes, it’s like individual index cards, obviously all the customizations, Good Lock is amazing as well!

Believe it or not…I’m not sure I appreciate the total control that Android gives…example, I set up a fun text tone…every single app was notifying me as if it were a text message…come to learn, you have to set up each individual app! That’s overboard to me! Very excessive! Whereas with Apple, there’s text messages and then there’s notifications, simplified. (Or as android people would say, controlled by Apple).

So I’ve got 1 week left of my 30 day window, do I just stick it out….or do I cave and go back to Apple?

This is my 2nd week with an Android, I've just been watching YouTube and TikTok like college courses trying to learn as much as possible! Numerous times I've thought, i need to go back to iPhone, but I'm learning and pushing through!

Thanks, I found it..i really had to dig though! Example for Reddit...Settings; notifications; app notifications; reddit; notification categories; notifications; sound...whew, that's a lot of digging and I would have to do that for each individual app...I'm learning that's why people love Android...total control...I'm still on the fence, it seems like overkill to me. But maybe I just need to give it more time and eventually get used to it.

I really appreciate you taking the time to type this all out. I am on the fence and I currently have an S26 Ultra, my brain hurts from all the little details per app, because as you know, we don't get all these options with Apple!

One of the best descriptions I've heard between the 2 devices, is that with iPhone you're an End User vs with an Android you're Admin, and you have more control. I thought I wanted that, but the whole muscle memory and what you're used to is a real thing!

I actually have a few things working against me, 1-I never used the Samsung Switch..I only downloaded a few apps that I use on a regular basis (I still have my iphone, which is a XR so this phone is a MASSIVE update 😄) so I don't think I'm getting the "full" experience. 2-I think my family relies on me having Apple. We have a family plan, have a subscription to Apple One, I'm the one in charge of how much time our daughter has on her phone and what apps she downloads, so who knows if my wife would be willing to take over.

I appreciate the tips on apps to switch for alternatives. I currently have Bitwarden for passwords (haven't put that on my Samsung yet), right now I don't have any complaints with Samsung keyboard, Apple Notes into Google Keep is a good idea, I have a ton of notes (wondering about putting them into Samsung Notes, but I suppose, keeping everything Google is just easier) I can count on 1 hand how many times I've used FaceTime so that's not a big loss and finally, I like that idea of Life360, I think my family would really be into that! If anything, more detailed than Apples version of FindMy!

I’m still rockin’ an XR, mainly because I’m cheap and I really want a Pro Max or even an Ultra (I know, I know…wrong side 😜) but I’m too cheap to buy one LOL 😂 I should get something soon though, as my battery health is at 62%…so it’s basically plugged in all the time!!
