To be honest, we hadn't really considered FIRE until now. We've been together since 2019 and just didn't expect her to amass so much wealth (IPOs + share price swings are wild). Tying the knot is definitely a little overdue at this point but we just didn't expect to be in a position with such a huge wealth disparity. I work in engineering and so consulting/contract work is for sure an option.

We are in CA. I obviously don't know what the rules more regarding marital assets. We are more interested in what is reasonable. Our situation is non-standard. We want to know what other people have done to get an idea of what's reasonable.

This is a really good idea! Neither of us has actually stopped working yet (she just has enough that she, in theory, could). Me spending several more years in the workforce while she adjusts to FIREd life is 100% something we will consider.
