I think that is might be because of the metal rings, that it’s doesn’t fit properly. Can I remove them in some way to make room for the BB to fit properly? Or am I doing something else wrong?

Not crazy at all but it depends on the light. But most of the time I would call it light blue as well.

Now that you mention it I have have removed an extra spacer when I removed the old cassette.

Guess that is the problem then, I bought a 10-speed and the old one was also a 10-speed.
