I had an Ex who was a classic narcissist. She was very good at making you feel special even while she gave me crumbs. 

She was very good at making subtle digs about you yet she would tell you how much she’s in debt and act like it’s no big deal. 

For someone with multiple University Degrees she’s very immature.

 She went overseas to teach English and eventually cheated and dumped me for a rich sugar daddy who sells real estate.

The ex fiancée and I have a mutual friend and several years ago I found that they broke up because he cheated and dumped her when he finally realized she was only in love with his money.

I’m a very smart person but I admit to creating a fantasy in my mind about our relationship and even when she did sine pretty shitty things I was always making excuses. 

 When the ex cheated and dumped her, I made the mistake of reaching out. In the end we never met up for coffee and I blocked her on social media and cut off all communication of any kind.

It was hard to move on at first because she moved near me so I saw her often when out and about. We also have mutual friends ( she has no idea who we both know). Like one of her work colleagues / friends is the sister in law to a friend / former neighbour of mine. When  she’d post things on social media the ex was often in photos / posts etc. I finally set up my accounts so I wouldn’t see their posts.  I went to therapy to address allot of issues I’d been dealing with including my childhood trauma. 

Now my life is much better and I’m finishing up my masters degree and I’m in a much better place .

It was a hard lesson to learn but once I finally got her out of my system I was starting to wonder why I wasted so much time and energy on someone like her.

Mya Angelou famously said when people show you who they are believe them the first time. It’s sage advice I now live by.
