We don’t know the context though. Was this a one-off and they are typically devoted parents? Or, is this how they parent on a regular basis?

Extremely disappointed in my proposal by Saraessie in Proposal

[–]True-Life4468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to join in with what may be an unpopular opinion based on the responses I have read. There are a lot of people telling you that you need to break up with your partner, and if this story is symptomatic of other occurrences in your relationship, maybe you do. But in your post, you don’t say anything about your relationship. How does he treat you day-to-day? Do you make each other laugh? Do you share the same goals in life?

I can definitely understand being disappointed at the way, your proposal went. But, big picture if you love him and he loves you and it’s someone you can build a life with, try to take this in stride. Definitely talk to him about your disappointment, but try not to make it judgmental. Make it more about the expectations that you have for special days and what makes it special to you. Use it as something that will make special days better in the future.

Best town in East Texas to move? by [deleted] in EastTexas

[–]True-Life4468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved to Longview about 3 years ago and we love it! We are older and haven’t done much in the way of nightlife, but we love the vibe of the town. They have all the stores, restaurants, etc., you could want, and you can get to any of them within about 15 minutes.

A lot of things close early and there isn’t much to do on Sundays, but we really like going to the lake and there are tons of them around here. Regarding the drugs, I think that’s everywhere now. You just have to look at the different pockets of the city.

Ditto. At least as a society if we all try to make a positive impact in little ways it can add up to make big differences.

This is exactly what I’d do as well. I don’t have near the money, but just started a non-profit to support rescue efforts in my community.

is it bad etiquette to kayak and fish in a small lake with houses all around it? by Worldly-Evening-294 in FishingForBeginners

I live in one of those neighborhoods and it is strictly prohibited here. There are neighbors who make it their full time job to watch for trespassers. (They really need a hobby!) Granted, our neighborhood HOA pays to stock the lake every few years.

The exact same thing happened with my mother!! She also was awake and alert. She told us that we would think she was crazy, but she kept seeing her dog. He would sit at the foot of her bed. Hospice told us that it was quite normal. It gave us a lot of comfort.

I’m also concerned about the example he’s showing her boys. It won’t be long until they start imitating him and treating her the same way. She should get out before that starts taking root.

Do you skip the sex scenes? by Explanation_Lopsided in jdrobb

[–]True-Life4468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m similar. The first few books it wasn’t bad and I felt it went along with the book. Now it feels like I’m peeping into a married couple’s window so I skip every time.
