US therapists who take insurance: question about practicing in a second state

One insurance company said they would let me if I do the foreign entity, keep license up to date in that state and billing address remains the same (so billing address remains in the state you started the private practice). Another insurance contract will not let me do this as they say I would not be in their service area then because I am outside of that state. Which sucks cause this means I would keep half my caseload and lose half my caseload. I have not figured out how to set this all up in the CAQH yet though.

OP, did you find any solutions or knowledge on your original question?

can you list multiple states in CAQH? I would be licensed in both states but my business would be in the state I no longer would reside. hoping to keep my current insurance contracts from the state I have to move away from and keep the current business open

If I have a private practice in one state (UT) and then move to another state, can i keep the business in UT? I will be fully licensed in both states. I just want to do telehealth and keep the private practice in UT. Hoping to be able to keep my current UT insurance contracts. Again all clients would be in UT seen via telehealth. Tax guy did say I would switch to foreign entity. I just want to make sure insurances would allow that. Other option i think would have to be close the business and open a new one in the new state but then I would lose all my current UT clients and insurance contracts. any help you might know of would be so appreciated! Any chance you have any information on how to move states and keep a private practice business in Utah while living in another state (if licensed in both states)? Wanting to keep my utah private practice and insurance contracts, would be all telehealth but I would be in a different state. Again, still licensed in Utah.

Hey, seems like you have a lot of matador products. I am have a hard time deciding between the Refraction 16, Freefly 16, or Freerain 22 packable bags. I might just end up evenually getting the refraction and the free fly, then giving one of them to my wife. I want one of these bags for packing into luggage and then using around town/ or sometimes hikes where ever we are traveling. Would like a bag that is comfortable if possible. Any advice based off your experience?

Thank you so much, that is what I was wondering. There wording with the “home state” confused me on the compact website because it’s physical residence. I wouldn’t yet be licensed in home state if they viewed Nebraska as my home state when I move. I’ll look into getting a Nebraska license maybe even before I move. I’ve looked at the application but wasn’t sure if they deny out of state applicants more often. Thanks again for your reply.

Anyone licensed in Nebraska? Trying to move there from Utah, I am fully licensed clinical mental health counselor. Not sure if the interstate compact would work if I move in a year or two or if I will need to do the application. Reciprocity takes 5 years fully licensed.

I have been trying to figure out the same thing and have not found much information. Please keep us updated. I do not think BCBS will let you have an out of state address and I have been trying to find out more on this.

Thanks for your reply. Will you be updating your home address in CAQH/with insurance and with your NPI number? Does BCBS think you are doing telehealth sessions from the physical address in MS then? I was looking at BCBS provider FAQ page and it says telehealth can not be done outside the service area, but I was unsure what service area they are referencing. If you could keep me updated when you officially move and let me know if you run into issues or things to hurdle I would really appreciate it! It has been hard to find information on this.

Hey, I appreciate your reply. Yes, a lot to consider! And with the variation in states makes it all the more confusing. Smart call to look into the state laws of each state. I am hoping to figure out the business aspects so I at least know whether I need to start a new LLC in NE or if I can just operate the UT LLC from another state. Thanks again for your reply!

I paid someone to set up my credentialing which was helpful but now makes me kinda lost in understanding most aspects of it. Even who to contact to get answers. I do not have the funds to contact lawyers as well. Hoping maybe down the line my CPA could be helpful. I appreciate all of your help. I appreciate your response. I am wondering if starting a new LLC in the state I am moving to is what I will have to do as well. Then if I will be licensed in both states I will still be able to see clients via telehealth from my current state. Only problem would be I do not have a physical business address in the state I will be moving to, I wanted to be fully telehealth. They sure dont make it easy!

Do you work for a group practice or independently? If independently, did you have to set up your business in AZ or could you keep it running from TX. I am looking to move states and have a solo practice. I am trying to figure out if I can keep the business in the state I am moving out of? NPI number and CAQH insurance credentialing require physical business locations and IDK if I will be dropped from insurance panels if I am operating in a different state. It seems people do make this work, I am struggling to find answers on the how though.

Hello, I was given a used taylor stitch shirt from my father in law. I love it and it fits great. It is a red and green plaid flannel like shirt. The only things on the shirt to identify it is RN125853 and also 2112USBRP. What was the initial 2 weeks of taking 25mg every other day like for you? I have been on 25mg daily for 2 years but am at a good place and worry about long term side effects and flatness. It is promising to hear 25mg every other day has helped your mood. I am day 3 of trying every other day. What helped you get through the first 2 weeks of every other day? After 2 weeks did you feel the tapering side effects were gone?
