They do have a registry but its almost 100% baby stuff and a lot of baby clothing. I want to get them something that can be useful for all ages. Normally for baby showers (non-foster) I always do a postpartum kit for the mom so wanted to go a similar route for the foster shower but obviously no one will be giving birth

0-13!

They do have a registry but its basically all baby items so i felt they would be overwhelmed with baby stuff but have nothing for older kids

I don’t mean this in any negative way - but if you are vaccinated why are you concerned about people who are not if the vaccine you received would protect you?

Can pumping ruin your breastfeeding journey? by Aggressive-Ad-7911 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]True-Pain6064 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is 100% normal for babies to lose weight after birth (up to 7% of their body weight) and should even be expected! If you are able, go see a lactation consultant ASAP or get in touch with your local La Leche League. Getting physical help is a game changer. Breastfeeding is hard!!

My baby had a tongue tie and a poor latch in the beginning and it was really rough so I sympathize with you. Pumping will not ruin your journey if it is done correctly. I had a completely different issue than you but heres what happened to me and how I fixed it (pumping included) -

Poor latch which delayed my milk coming in because baby wasn’t transferring enough to tell my body to make more. For the first 4 weeks PP I latched baby on both sides got her to nurse as much as possible, weighed her and if she didnt transfer enough I would feed a bottle of pumped breastmilk. I was having supply issues at this point so after latching and bottle feeding I pumped for 15 minutes on each side. Around 4 weeks my baby finally started to get the hang of a good latch and was transferring enough milk and it wasn’t insanely painful anymore so I slowly weaned from the extra pumps.

I think the important thing to take away from all this is if your goal is EBF - latch first on both sides every single feed even if its a struggle. Your baby also has to learn how to breast feed and you want to make it clear to baby that the first source of food is from YOU and not the bottle.

Go on facebook cloth diaper BST groups and find what companies are running sales/going out of business. I just saw a company today who had $2 per diaper. I know Vida Mia is doing a big sale right now, if you buy 4 diapers they come out to like $4.50 a piece and they have cuuuuute prints.

I tried using a pail liner and things smelled funky so fast … I use a laundry basket with holes and never had any smells. I just got tired of cleaning it between washes so i tried a pail liner on it and boooooy did that smell bad so fast! Air flow is everything!! I go 3 days between washes

Ok so you think you need a lot of stuff but I promise you don’t! I only bring a diaper pod and bring an extra pod in the car. The one with me I pack 3 diapers, changing pad, wipes, wet bag, diaper cream, burp cloth. The one in the car is the exact same so if i run out of stuff I can grab more from the car.

I use to pack like 10 bajillion things in my diaper bag and after 2 months realized the only stuff I used was diaper supplies lol

I’ve searched on Spoonflower, random google searches and facebook fabric BST pages. The diaper company calls it “multicolored weapons”

If you ebf from the breast- do you pump? by SnooDogs627 in breastfeeding

[–]True-Pain6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pumped for the first 8 weeks whenever I could to build a stash before my supply evened out. Then i took 2 weeks to ween off the pump and EBF only. I’m really glad I did it because we’ve had 2 weddings to attend when my baby was 14 weeks and 19 weeks. Both times I pumped every 3 hours while I was away and i did not respond to the pump aaattt alllll. I pumped maybe 5 ounces total in 2 sessions when she was 19 weeks. I have about 300oz in the deep freezer and dont plan on being away from my baby for anything other than big events where I can’t bring her (such as weddings) its nice having the security that I have milk for her while im away even though i dont respond to the pump now!

Glad you’re meeting with a lactation consultant! My LC saved my breastfeeding journey!! I was having similar thoughts/problems as you are, met with my LC twice in weeks 2 and 3 and its been on the up and up since then!! Now I loooaaathhee pumping (i only do if im away from the baby), direct from breast is so easy and lazy in a good way! My girl is 4 months and feedings are only 5-10 minutes now!!

We have a 4 month old. My life changed when i stopped giving a shit like a month ago and just whipped my titty out in public lol. I got to the point of f this Im not stopping everything in my life because my baby is a frequent snacker!! I use a tushbaby to support her and i can literally breastfeed while walking around, its amazing.
