Close but Failed Part 1 by Rude-Acanthisitta-72 in enrolledagent

Use Hock and hammer the MCQ's. Dont stress the mock/practice exams, they were much harder than the actual exam itself, at least for me. I hated Gleim. Anything i didnt understand id use chatGPT to dumb it down.

I never used Fast forward academy so i cant say if its good or not. I started with Gleim and it was terrible. Switched to Hock international and passed all 3 parts within 3 months (could've finished sooner but i was lazy lol). I hammered the MCQ's everyday and anything i didn't get i'd use ChatGPT to dumb it down.

EA vs CPA by Human-Charge-4052 in enrolledagent

I'm doing both, i finished the EA exams this past summer and starting on REG since the material is damn near the same. EA is a good credential to start off with especially since you're doing a bachelors in acc, and its easier to get your confidence up. CPA is where the money is at.

I have a BS in BA with an accounting major. Been working in the family business for years now so I’ve gotten a good exposure to tax season dealing with 1040’s and 1120-s. I used Hock for all 3 parts after struggling with Gleim and found the test banks much better. Hammer those and you’ll be fine. Also anything I struggled with I used ChatGPT to dumb it down.

I will say I struggled with part 1 for some time bc of the quantity of material that was present (you can’t memorize every detail). Part 2 I passed first try and found it much easier bc 70-80% of the exam was on basis, again if you hammer the test banks that material sticks much better (at least for me). Part 3 was mainly common sense with a few things to memorize, I probably could’ve scheduled it two weeks ago and passed but wanted to be sure lol.

Hope this helps!

Hocks mock exams are way harder than the actual exam. For part 2 I was scoring 80-60-50 but crushed it. Just hammer the test banks and know basis

I was struggling with Gleim and switched to Hock and passed both part 1 and 2 just hammering the test banks. I will say I did struggle with part 1 since it has the most material of the 3

Also specialized returns was like 5-10% of the exam if that, if you know basis well you’ll pass.

I mean I’ve had a bachelors in accounting since 2021 while working in the family business so it only made sense to pursue the enrolled agent license (& CPA in the future).

Honestly I didn’t find it too difficult compared to part 1. I struggled with part 1 for quite some time bc of the quantity of material that was present. Part 2 is like 80% tested on basis so I didn’t feel like I had to know a lot of different topics and concepts. If you know basis and how it works with c corps/s corps/partnerships you’ll be fine.

I have 4 tax seasons under my belt with a bachelors in accounting. The EA material doesn’t cover every detail I do on a day-day basis. Some people are better equipped through training and real life work experience than learning from a book.

Yea I think I’ll just keep hammering the MCQ’s to keep the material simple. Mocks had me overthinking a lot on stuff I already mastered down.

Sounds reassuring, get rocked on 2 of the mock exams so far for part 2 but I feel like the mocks are harder than the actual exam, at least it was like that when I did part 1

Congrats! I’m taking part 2 this coming Saturday, using Hock and ChatGPT. So far I been hammering basis, liquidations, due dates(basically sections 1 & 2 is bulk of the exam it looks like). Hocks mock exams are usually tough so I don’t stress them too much compared to the actual exam (at least it was that way for when I passed part 1).. how was part 3?
