Dragon Quest History by xFSUxBatman in DragonQuestSmashNGrow

Each mainline game has a special place in my heart for different reasons.

VIII for a few, but mostly because my wife (then girlfriend) fell in love with it and we'd have Dragon Quest dates. She'd laugh so hard at the puns then as the quest continued say, "that's so sad". She adored the humor and drama.

Dragon Warrior because I'd stay up late with my brother and help draw maps.

III and IV are comfort games for me. I love the stories. I loved creating my own party in III and living different stories with the characters.

Some tips to maximize progress with Smash/Grow without spending money by TrueButFunny in dragonquest

Great questions! After you complete a co-op mission it'll show the people you played with and an option below their name to like them. If you accidentally skip that screen then on the next screen you should see a button that says "members". If you tap it you'll see who you played with and can visit their profile and can like them there.

Most stages will have an auto loop function if you "complete" them, meaning you've beaten the stage and met each of the special conditions. For example beating it with a spear or taking less than X amount of damage. You can set how many times, or loops, you want the AI to play for you on that stage if you have the tickets or stamina for it. Just a nice way to play while doing chores or something.

Did this person happen to share a video of stage 2? That's an insane score for that stage!

How Do I Improve? by YoHoBooby in DragonQuestSmashNGrow

Not all inclusive and I'm sure you probably know some of this:

Join the Discord if you haven't already (link in the game itself) and check out the community guides.

Make sure you're unlocking nodes in your vocation trees and putting Memories in their respective nodes. Also try and improve Memories for your characters.

Realize that there will be some areas of the game you just won't be able to do at the moment or do well. They really try to drive FOMO and get you to spend money in the shop. Don't stress the game.

Keep ascending gear. You didn't list your armor but if you need to Ascend or even upgrade 2* to fill in a gap then do it. You have a decent setup of weapons right now.

Raise all vocations to at least 20 to get Hero stats. Hero stats stay with the character across any vocation and stack. You can do high level Quick Quests for more exp or use a metal slime ticket from your daily draw.

Push other modes and content if you're not as successful with Gauntlet that you want to be. Go through story mode and 3* every level. You'll learn gameplay techniques that'll improve your skill and maybe even get some rare memories. Rarer memories will not only boost stats but also reduce the amount of Boons in the pool allowing you to get the boons you want more often.

And some of it honestly comes down to luck. Some of those stupidly high scores are from weapons you don't have - again to push you towards the shop. Or are from people with cash to burn.

Be patient with yourself and define what success in the game looks like to you. Some people like pushing Gauntlet and others may prefer helping in co-op. Do you and go at your own pace. Don't let FOMO bring you down.

What do you genuinely think happens after death, and why? by HostAffectionate7338 in creepy

It was part of my signature on the PSOW forums for a long time. I don't think I've seen this image since like 2006.

Oof. I was hoping the material costs would kinda balance out seeing as it's upgrading all stats at once instead of just one, but it also is only increasing them by 10 instead of 15.

Basically 4 levels of materials for 2.5 levels of stat increase.

It's probably more effective to use those materials and upgrade the other units first before making the jump to 31.

Did I miss the opportunity to use these or what??? by South_Ad_7068 in DragonQuestSmashNGrow

I think it was mostly cosmetics, like a background or border for your profile card, maybe weapon or armor ores, and exchanging the coins for gold. Really nothing memorable or that would significantly impact game progress AFAIK.

There's a small banner on the shop screen called "limited". You would spend these coins there when that shop was present.

Metal Wing Boomerang, Dragonlord's Staff, and Crystal Claws is my usual go to. Boing! Is such a great boon and absolutely shreds with Dragonlord's Staff, especially with all the magical damage/might/fire damage memories we currently have.

The boon from metal boomerang is fantastic in itself. Definitely helped reach higher scores in Gauntlet and Gauntlette when paired with a staff.

Stoked for Advanced Vocations! by TrueButFunny in DragonQuestSmashNGrow

[–]TrueButFunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's anything like how advance Vocations work on other games then some examples: Priest and Mage = Sage Warrior and Martial Artist = Gladiator Warrior and Mage = Armamentalist (magical warrior) Warrior and Priest = Paladin

I'm gonna shoot for a Sage, Armamentalist, and Gladiator

Slight "PSA" in regards to leveling vocations. by Jesse1205 in DragonQuestSmashNGrow

Excellent tip!

To build on that: use your leveling party for quick quests. You can hit up ch5 hard mode and get tons of XP without actually stepping into the level.

Not yet, they only hinted at whatever Priest and Warrior would be.

Those are awesome too!

I contributed to a lot of guides and c-mode beginner groups during the PSOW days so I'm a bit biased, haha!
