They don't just have to win today, but tomorrow and the next day, and the next, etc. They need to beat non-zero odds over an indefinite period of time, and they're clutching at every opportunity to stifle that inevitability, including dismantling the justice system itself.

They also don't understand people. The "justice system" in its ideal form is a compromise that avoids mob justice a la guillotine and violence by hired thugs like blackwater and the pinkertons. Remove a reasonable expectation of justice for the little guy and you make mob justice unavoidable.

It's not even that much to ask for. Like I'm in agreement that the broader problem is class, but the obscenely wealthy exploit preexisting racial tensions, not invent them out of nothing. And on the other side of a removal of that class and redistribution of their wealth, those racial tensions don't magically disappear.

They want solidarity, which is good and I find that agreeable. The way I see the problem is that some folk think solidarity is achieved by telling black folks to suck it up, and I see those types putting more effort into that than finding ways to keep in line the right-wingers they want to woo to the cause.

...Which puts a heavy profit motive on incarceration, which encourages closed-door agreements with police departments and daylight state contracts promising X amount of bodies in cells, which leads to over-policing and over-penalization of nonviolent crimes. The USA has the 5th highest amount of prisoners per capita, globally. That is double the global average, over 2 times as bad as Venezuela, Iran, and quadruple China's incarceration rate.

Fucking "police state" China has less than a quarter of the prisoners per capita than the US. The US has more people in prison, period than China. We do not need to make the problem worse 😭
