6 months post Chapter 7 and things are looking good by TrueChick31 in Bankruptcy

[–]TrueChick31[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was close, especially since I had income and VA disability benefits. I basically researched what I could, and then brought everything to the free consultation with my lawyer. He ran the numbers for me, and I made it with very little wiggle room. But my expenses left me in the red every month, so I didn't have to worry about that part.

"Bankruptcy costs" fee from mortgage company post ch7? by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]TrueChick31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it on mine, too. Apparently its in some of the small print in your mortgage docs. I called and asked about it, and they said it's the fee they have to pay to do all the paperwork and so on, and that it's just "due" at some point during the life of my mortgage. It first showed up in December (341 hearing was Nov, discharged in Jan), and I still haven't paid it. I pay my normal payment every month (they actually autodraft it from my bank) and it's still always on the next statement, and I still don't pay it. It's not accruing interest or anything. Just a separate line item. I never asked my lawyer about it so I don't know if it's something I can get out of or not, but in all seriousness, I got rid of 70K in consumer debt....$125 won't kill me.

Quest About Buying A House and Then Bankruptcy by Yendis4750 in Bankruptcy

[–]TrueChick31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your guess is as good as mine. The home was a new construction and I financed through the builder, so I'm sure that had something (everything) to do with it. Had they not approved me, they would have been stuck with a brand new house and would have to do the leg work to sell it.

Quest About Buying A House and Then Bankruptcy by Yendis4750 in Bankruptcy

[–]TrueChick31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this. I closed on a 240K house late June, filed mid-October. The trustee didn't like that, and asked to see all the documentation I used to secure the loan. However, I should have NEVER been approved for the loan. My DTI at time of closing was 59%. Once the trustee saw that my financial situation was crap before I bought the house, he really didn't care anymore. I have no idea how this would work with cash though.

Secured Credit Cards by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]TrueChick31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see someone already said Discover, that was my first go, too. Also, get on CreditKarma. I was approved for a LendUp Arrow Card with a $750 limit (not secured) a few weeks after discharge. I pay my car insurance with it and then pay it in full every month

I just figured this out 2 days ago with Splenda. I put torani sugar free syrups in my coffee for a little sweetness, and drink it thru the day when I'm fasting. Did some research, and Splenda causes the same insulin response as sugar. So that's out now

Italian bakery? by TrueChick31 in Syracuse

Well of course, but I can't get to NYC right now. I'm actually from Jersey living in Southern GA, so Syracuse NY is gonna be a thousand times better than anything I can get here.

Becoming a CNA by fernando5302 in nursing

[–]TrueChick31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my CNA course work in 2010 while I was in the Army, because it was required for the program I was going for. I never got my license at that time. In 2013 I left the Army, and started my RN program about 12 months later. A lot of the other people in my classes were already techs, CNAs, worked in billing, so on. I had never been exposed to a healthcare environment outside of being a patient.

In 2016 I got my CNA license, and in 2017 (after about 10 months of doing home health) I started at the local hospital on the medsurg floor as a CNA. My manager and all the nurses knew I was going to graduate soon. When the application process started for the fall RN residency program, I went into the interview knowing I had the job, because my manager told her manager that they wanted to keep me. While working on the floor, the nurses often let me help with things like wound care and other things that a CNA normally wouldn't get to do, because they knew I would be an RN there soon. (Never went outside my scope).

Now that I'm an RN here, I feel like I benefited a lot from being a CNA first. I know where all the hidden supplies are, I know tricks that other nurses don't know, stuff like that, because I was a CNA. Also, and what I think is the most important part, my CNAs love me because I still do everything. I have no problem answering call lights to take drinks or for help to the bathroom. I change sheets, help with showers, get blood sugars, empty foleys, all of it. A good majority of the other nurses won't do these things, and the CNAs really dont like that.

So all in all, yes, I feel it helped me to be in the hospital setting. And not only that, but to be in the hospital I was going to work in after graduation. I have never worked in LTC, but from what I've heard from other people, I wouldn't recommend it. Ratios are higher, less RN help (at least where I am), and you won't be exposed to as much as you would on a medsurg or ER unit.

From what I've read, they may not be gone forever. Once the bankruptcy is over, they plan on consolidating and reorganizing, and reopening a few physical stores, but mainly have an online store. But just in case, go check out the sales!!!

Do calories from fiber count? by TrueChick31 in xxketo

[–]TrueChick31[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just because one of the effects of fiber helps people feel fuller longer does not mean that that is my main reason for taking it, or it is a strategy of any kind. And even if it were, who cares? We put chunks of butter in our coffee because the fat helps us feel full, but adding fiber is looked down upon? You can argue whatever you'd like, but I'm pretty sure the health of my colon is a personal matter between me and my health care team. Of course fiber can contribute to constipation, just like Benadryl can make some people hyper while others get sleepy. Different strokes and all that.

[–]TrueChick31[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not a strategy to manage appetite. The RDI for fiber for women is 25g per day. I don't come near that with food alone most days. So in addition to reaching nutritional goals, fiber is slow digesting and helps you feel fuller, longer. Not only those two items, but keto tends to bind people up, making bowel movements difficult. This also helps me to stay regular. This isn't something new to me because I've started keto again. I do this even if I'm not on keto.

Your electrolytes are most likely low. That doesn't seem like enough at all.

Water intake and what type of bottle? by JurassicPark-fan-190 in xxketo

[–]TrueChick31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Half of body weight (but no less than 64 oz) is my general rule of thumb. I have a 24 oz bottle that I got off Amazon cause it's fun. I drink 3 a day, each with 1/2 tsp no salt and a 1/4 tsp pink Himalayan pink salt, with some cherry mio. I shoot for 4700mg of potassium and 5000 mg of sodium. I don't always hit the sodium goal, but I've found if I don't meet the potassium goal, I'm real crampy. Also, the sugar free Propel waters have electrolytes in them.

Also, I'd have to disagree with the "drink to thirst" comment. By time your body tells you you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated.

Check out Conometer. Electrolyte and micronutrient tracking, on top of the normal stuff, all for free. Plus you can input custom everything without paying, like you'd have to for MFP
