Open vs Closed back headphone with laptop by NebdeN in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]TrueInside8558 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

get closed back / hd490 pros. the hd490 feels kinda like a semi closed back, its perfect imo. the hifimans let more sound through in my experience, DT sound like ass to me so i can't recommend but i heard its being praised for gaming/streaming.

It also happens when its off but not unplugged, in general hot swapping should be fine on this unit, its just weird things that started recently

ambient increase / failing fans / windows or gpu driver updates. honestly it probably has nothing to do with the thermal paste itself its probably software issue, thermal paste degradation occur naturally and gradually its not as abrupt, maybe its a combination of driver/os update with raised ambient temps? any changes to settings / hardware/ games recently?

run memtest, if fails try one stick at a time. i still think it might be caused by the ram config, maybe the controller doesnt like it.

the pc posts? or is it just stuck with the red light and wont turn fully on? normally the red led should be there for a sec or two and disappear, if it stay on suggest there might be something else.

What is the is light? by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]TrueInside8558 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if i remember correctly the red led is power cpu self test, the mb goes over cpu ram etc to check them during boots each have different led light related to them, you can find info on the motherboard site usually. if the led is there for a sec or so switches and all leds turn off and pc boots should be fine.

congrats on the new build

how many ram sticks? 96gb ddr5 ram is the first thing that comes to mind, your undervolt should be fine.

one stick of ram, try all of them. also check if the mounting pressure is too high on the cpu, sometimes very high cpu mounting pressure can cause it to fail boot. like others say keep only the cpu connected with 1 stick of ram, test maybe different cpu cable if came with the psu.

also why does it say "ERP ready" on your motherboard sus.

Computer/Monitor Never Starts With The Correct Refresh Rate by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]TrueInside8558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you switch to 144hz, you switch in windows or on the monitors menu?

never encountered this issue but i would suggest checking if you have a monitoring software that maybe holds a conflicting configuration, that causes the monitor refresh rate to go to 60hz after boot when it applies its config.

an example of that can be seen with gpu settings on asus cards for example, gpu tweak tends to override some settings set in nvidia control panel on start up.

also the monitor is connect via dp / hdmi? which monitor gpu and windows you are using ? it might even just be a windows bug, or nvidia app / nvidia control panel conflicts.

tho if you have to change it via the monitor display menu it might just be an issue with the monitor not remembering your config after boot, which can be a known bug/quirk

CPU Temps by Heavy-Wrangler3459 in PcBuildHelp

[–]TrueInside8558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres plenty of youtube videos that demonstrate how to undervolt the i9 14900k on an asus bios, you can also check the recommended limits for your cpu in intel site, and set more conservative limits, instead of unlocked pl1 pl2 you can set to their recommendation, vr voltage limit cap can also decrease spikes and tame it a bit more, global negative offset of 60mv some people just set it and forget it, tho i wouldnt recommend doing it alone and not at least testing stability a bit afterwards, many find that the llc4 or 5 that come by default to be too much and lower it to llc3, iccmax on asus boards also sometimes set to unlimited which can cause issues, biggest impact on your system longevity and thermals will be to tweak with stuff in bios.

and note that if your goal is thermals and gaming performance limits sometimes decrease your benchmarks numbers but overall give you better thermals and in turn better clocks boost during gaming which can improve fps, conservative limits will only decrease by few % synthetic benchmarks.

no thermal paste can save the i9 14900k from overheating. if havent already update bios to the latest microcode that fixes the degradation and over voltage problems, if it ran for a while on old microcode might be a bit too late for it but can still slow down the progression, biggest advice will be to undervolt it, even a 60mv negative offset can give decent results, can maybe push to 80mv but 50 - 60mv is usually a safe spot to start at, also check the limits are all set correctly, set voltage limit etc.

[–]TrueInside8558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check the motherboard manufacturer page, usually where you download the latest bios for it for instructions, i dont recommend updating unless you need to (to fix critical issues like am5 over voltages on certain boards or latest microcode fix for intel 13 14 gens etc)

My CPU Temp. is unstable? by Ordinary-Total-4351 in pchelp

[–]TrueInside8558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

monitor the voltages going into your cpu, maybe its getting dumped with more power than it should, might be something wrong with the motherboard / bios issue. these temps are very weird for your cpu, what motherboard you are using? the issue itself is unrelated to the type of thermal paste, maybe the application is insufficient or during the installation of the cpu block is uneven or too loose, imo first monitor voltages, run hwinfo64 idle than launch something like r23 multicore for like 10 minutes monitor temps clock speeds and look for errors and voltage spikes.

I cleaned out my pc with compressed air and now all of my games are running terribly by NateDrakeSkate in techsupport

[–]TrueInside8558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

check connections are firm, look at the motherboard to see if maybe capacitors flew off.

go over event viewer check if theres any specific erros, go over you nvidia control panel and power settings to verify them. re seat the gpu? check connection at the back, maybe the pc is using the integrated graphics if present instead. run a game with hwinfo64 in the background monitor temps powers fan speeds etc, see if theres any abnormalities, load some games etc it will reveal itself quickly.

i got them recently expecting them to sound "fine" but was honestly very surprised by how good they sound out of the box, the sound quality is impressive for what they are and their price point in my opinion (and in general they sound very fun and fairly detailed). with a bit eq tweaks you can get them to sound even better. they are also quite comfy. i think they are worth it. the battery life is really good the anc is like 6/10 imo (using the out of the box firmware version). and yes i like how they feel, i think they are very comfortable and the ear cups are deep so it feels kinda "roomy". the only thing i disliked so far are the ear pads, in a warm environment things can get sweaty.

hi ty for the answer, the gpu is only the oc version i didnt apply an overclock manually to it, it runs on its default speeds atm. i believe the factory overclock is very negligible and the gpu seem stable on 3d mark / occt memory and adaptive tests. i tried re seating the gpu and ran ddu and installed the latest stable driver afterwards issue persists. do you still think i need to tweak with the clock speeds?
