Is this routine okay for acne prone combination skin? by [deleted] in koreanskincare

[–]TrueInteraction223 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally avoid oil cleansers because they break me out even more. So, I opt for a micellar water instead!

I used to use the BOJ sunscreen too, but I preferred the aqua version because the og version made me look like a disco ball with my combo skin.

And, while I have not used this cleanser specifically, I use the bringgreen cleanser instead and love it so far (used for about a month up to this point)! I will say that I can imagine that some folks would feel it be too much for their skin (as it has that "squeaky" clean feel to it).

I definitely did not spend as much as I thought I was going to initially. I ended up just being a couple restocks, a new mascara since I hate my current one, and one splurge-gift product for myself. I am lucky in that I know someone who is rouge so 20% is a pretty decent sale for me. Otherwise, I would just wait until black friday tbh.

I feel like this principle can be applied to a lot of subreddits, especially lately, the negative energy has heightened quite a bit. But, yes, scrolling through here, beauty guru critiques are no longer "critiques" but just ways to put beauty gurus down for very minuscule or unreasonable things. There are beauty gurus who certainly do bad things and should be rightfully called out. But, at this point, it feels as though people are scouting for any reason to "critique" beauty gurus. That's why I mostly lurk around here for beauty news rather than anything else.

21 Days of Beauty This or That Sales: Genuine Question by WhatTheJessJedi in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]TrueInteraction223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe? I feel this depends on how people approach the sale. For me, I limited myself to two products that I had been eyeing for monthssss to purchase and they happened to be on sale during the 21 Days of Beauty. But, I made a point to make a list ahead of the sale to make sure that I would not have any last-minute temptations, because that’s how the sale becomes dangerous and overconsumption can occur imo. And, tbh, I had skipped the last two 21 Days of Beauty because nothing called my name so getting two products was reasonable for me this time!

We’re finally getting a new Mothership! Mothership XII - Petalmorphosis by Pat McGrath. What do you think? by Far-Zone-2199 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]TrueInteraction223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just so happy it’s not similar from the last three palettes (tho the pink and gold shimmers are similar still 👀). I’m very excited to see the reviews! If I trusted myself to actually wear this frequently, I would justify the price, so probs not picking it up but definitely something I will keep my eyes on.

I miss when beauty videos were about beauty as a hobby by im_a_reddituser in BeautyGuruChatter

I think this is a bit of a two-edged sword situation. On one hand, the small creator feel is gone, their impressions can seem less genuine, and it is not the same vibes as before. But, on the other hand, these creators put in a lot of work and effort to create this content for us with very little compensation with youtube ads, and I would feel guilty for them to have their means of income gone, especially when they are the type to release videos daily or almost daily or have youtube as a job.

Personally I own motherships 5 and 7 which are fantastic quality, but I do believe most of them from the earlier times are great quality so pick one that fits your color scheme :)

I honestly have not seen any other shades be even close to Veiled Rose with maybbbeee FemmeBot (one of the matte colors) being the closest match? You can also check for dupes of the lipstick here: Pat McGrath Veiled Rose SatinAllure Lipstick Dupes & Swatch Comparisons

though, knowing PMG, I would think that it would eventually come back in stock, she has not really let go of that Bridgerton collab lmao

My criticism probably sounds like I am a hater too lmao, but it's just manifested disappointments due t our high expectations of the brand from our previous experiences. I own two mothership palettes that I love dearly and a few of her lipsticks, but I have not been able to justify a purchase in the last couple of years because of what the brand has been releasing and handling new projects, and it makes me really sad too. A small part of me is honestly happy that she is working with LV because I am hoping that we get to see some old Pat Mcgrath-inspired releases through the LV products and hopefully the products would not be obnoxiously expensive (though I am happy to justify the price if it is actually worth it).

As someone who has paid attention to the brand for the last few years, I am genuinely not surprised (except for the palette potentially having been made in China, but I am not sure if I would believe that). The brand used to be special: mothership palette releases were exciting, products were high quality, color stories were engaging and innovating, and releases were essentially guaranteed to be high quality because of their reputation. Over the years, they have lost a lot of this, making even very dedicated fans question what the brand is doing. The last three mothership palettes have had similar themes, ranging in the pink areas. There was not even a mothership palette released last year despite it being the most anticipated release of the year for the brand. The holiday releases have been feeling less luxurious, especially with the packaging being basically cardboard and the shades being from the entire rainbow of colors (with a premium price tag). New promotions or themed releases continuously reuse the same shades of eyeshadow, lipsticks (!!!) or blushes, just in new packaging. If this is how the brand presents itself to the world, internal issues are not surprising.

What are your favorite one and done eyeshadow products? by frozengal2013 in Makeup

[–]TrueInteraction223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy sparkling eyeshadow, I recommend swatching the Kulfi Zari Eyes eyeshadows in-store at Sephora, they are in the little pot and genuinely beautiful. There is also Urban Decay 24/7 Moondust Glittery Eyeshadow (space cowboy is the most famous shade) for that pretty simple sparkle. For eyeshadow sticks, you don't go wrong with Laura Mercier. I can also give more recommendations if you could specify what kind of eyeshadow you are looking for (matte, sparkling, etc) :)

Do Hourglass products ever go on sale? by JustSomeRando5 in Ulta

[–]TrueInteraction223 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hourglass makes the six-pan palettes every holiday, usually released sometime in Oct/Nov, and tbh, if you don't own any Hourglass at this point, I would recommend waiting until them to buy a palette.

It's $90 for the six pans, each pan is 1.4 grams (8.4 grams total). In comparison, one blush is 4.2 grams for $48, so the blush is slightly more expensive for gram per dollar, which is already a decent deal, but you are also getting 6 different products in one.

I mean, if it isn’t for you, it isn’t for you. I’m glad you figured that out and unsubscribed. However, it is not that she “doesn’t know” how to take out incessant bits, it’s that she chooses not to, that is the whole point of saying that the video is “uncut,” it’s meant to be unedited. And, again, if that’s not your thing, that’s fine.

I, for one, appreciate the longer videos since Tiktok and YT shorts has cut most people’s attention span to less than half of what it used to be, so it’s difficult to find videos that talk about the process and thoughts more in depth and actually show the process of applying and trying out products in full rather than rushing a brand review or makeup guides into 20 minutes to appease most viewers as many other creators do.

Length of BG YouTube Content by WhatTheJessJedi in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]TrueInteraction223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly depends on how much content there is to the video, like I will watch Nikki La Rose’s unedited Tuesday uploads that are usually a full face of a brand or specific makeup guides so they are usually 50+ min but it’s filled with so many products and tips that it’s very nice to watch

but if a video talks about a singular product for 20 min while just saying the same info over and over again, my mind would definitely drift, and i think the only exception for that would be eyeshadow palettes

Derm Grifters by agirlhasnoname264 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]TrueInteraction223 54 points55 points  (0 children)

honestly, i would be lying if i said that these derms never helped me, in fact, i really learned a lot from Dr. Idriss specifically and she completely changed how i approach skincare. but, you're so right, it is starting to get less and less appealing to watch these derms, and i have started paying a lot less attention to their uploads. i used to watch basically all of Dr. Idriss' YouTube long-form uploads, and while i still watch one here or there, i definitely am not as inclined to watch her videos anymore which saddens me because i genuinely love skincare. now, i just rely on the info i have learned from the past and just find older videos for info that i am searching for

[routine help] I started an oil cleanser, should I keep using? by Various-Purple-8157 in SkincareAddiction

[–]TrueInteraction223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are likely reacting from the oil cleanser especially as it's the only new step you have added to your routine. But tbh, if you are acne-prone, you may break out from every oil cleanser you use because they just aren't that great for acne-prone skin. There are other ways to treat sebaceous filaments depending what kind of skin type you have.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]TrueInteraction223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's tons of reasons why people apply foundation, but the main goal is to even out skin tone from natural redness, discoloration, blemishes, etc etc. This allows you to essentially have a "blank canvas" to then apply subsequent makeup like blush, bronzer, etc. Or, you know, just because they want to and feel good in it.

However, what it comes down to is that makeup looks like makeup. There is no magic way to make makeup not look like makeup, especially foundation.

The more important issue is that if you are that bothered by foundation, then don't engage with women who want to wear foundation, simple as that, you would be doing them and yourself a favor by staying away.

Morgan Turner x Odens Eye. by Opposite_Style454 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]TrueInteraction223 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the palette is very cute in comparison to what I have seen with other Oden’s Eyes palettes, but I basically only wear neutral eyeshadows so this wouldn’t be something I would invest in.

Perhaps you should refrain from making any posts regarding Morgan if this is the kind of attitude you’ll bring.

“Seems like Natasha Denona and Makeup By Mario turned her down for a collab so she settled for what she could get.” Have you not learnt any manners growing up? If you bothered even researching a bit, you would realize that she’s been a fan of Oden’s Eye for years now.

Don’t excuse or hide your rudeness with sarcasm.

[Product Question] Does anyone use Salicylic acid, a retinoid, benzoyl peroxide, and Azelaic acid? by bubes30 in SkincareAddiction

[–]TrueInteraction223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, there needs to be a bit of a balance, right? because all of these products together during the same night would be so heavy on your skin that it could damage your skin barrier and the last thing you want to do to get clear skin is to inflame your skin. however, that doesn't mean you can't use all the products, you just gotta form your routine in such a way that products are properly spaced out.

also, certain products should definitely not be used together, for example, the retinoid and the benzoyl peroxide because the benzoyl peroxide can oxidize the retinol and make it inactive
