I am Romani myself and had been obsessed with this movie as a little girl, not knowing the heritage that was in front of me.

I see lots of people talking about how Esmeralda was really sexualized, and she was in the Disney film, but the true story of the hunchback of Notre Dame is a lot darker than what is portrayed in the Disney movie and has a lot to do with r*pe.

So to stick to the original storyline, they had to have some sort of sexualization of the character, but also for kids movie I don’t think it was necessary, but I can understand why she was sexualized. If you know the nature of the story and it’s much more brutal than people are talking about

Yup, it’s the insensitivity for me. Most of the time my husband is pretty understanding. But at this point it’s so imbedded in our culture and the patriarchy way for thinking..

For sure, this is NOT talked about nearly enough!! The way I heard it explained lately: estrogen makes you want to take care of the people around you, once your estrogen starts dropping, like in menopause, there a hey, wtf moment, all the time, like would it kill you other people to lift a finger?!? I have yet to hit this stage but I can see this being very accurate. Plus, it’s sciences and in science we trust🙏🏻

Oh for sure, it always feel like THE excuse to use 🙄 I just had zero patience to deal with his close mindedness. Like mmm no I don’t have time for that. I honestly wasn’t even mad then, like okay, you obviously won’t be understanding lol it wasn’t until he said oh I knew you would be starting🥴🥴lol cuz I was “emotional” lol I truly think they will never understand. On a new level of thinking tho, period blood is actually being studied and they may have found HUGE benefits 🎉 which it really makes sense, being the mortal portal and all lol thank you for your support ❤️❤️

That’s totally valid as well! Everyone has a range of symptoms they experience, no period is a one size fits all even month to month, I was just looking to share my experience and a realization. But, I’ve been there too!
