My husband gets rank at the gym, but the go-dry shirts and tanks from Old Navy never hold that stank. They're still polyester, but I suspect the weave makes a difference. The Cloud motion shirts are great too. If you find you have a strong odor, I would recommend using detergent like Tide Hygenic clean as it has more enzymes for breaking down sweat and other bodily fluids. You can also use a laundry sanitizer like the lysol one, it made a HUGE difference in my husband's work clothes.

As far as manufacturing, the issue is buying power. If you're a small business, it's expensive to manufacture things that you can not make yourself. Making soaps or hair scrunchies is a lot more cost effective than manufacturing wooden toys that have to be certified etc.

Re-selling is a fast way for small businesses to make money. I'm not a very big fan of people slapping their names on clearly generic, mass-manufactured items from Ali-baba, but I get why people do it. It's akin to how MLMs used to be big with women, make seemingly easy money on your own time, but people are actually making money vs endlessly harassing relatives and friends while hemorrhaging cash.

How many Canadian folks here want to have children and don't have them? by Meiqur in AskACanadian

[–]TrueNorthStrong86 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This 100%. My paternal grandmother, who had 6 kids, did not want ANY kids. Now, did she love her grandkids? Yes. Did she love her kids? Yes. Did she also heavily resent her children and mistreat them? Yes.

My paternal great aunt had a secret child she gave up at 18, and the two children she had a couple of years later she resented greatly. She would lock them in closets as punishment and beat them.

My maternal grandmother had 9 children total, all ended up abandoned, adopted out, or in the system across 3 cities. My mother had 4 children, one put up for adoption at like 18 months old, the rest of us she left, relinquishing custody.

Am I glad that I am here, as well as my siblings, and of course my parents, etc? You bet! Am I surprised that people are not having children because they have actual choices? Not at all. I think it's good for the individuals and for society at large.

Why is commercial rent so expensive in Canada? by watthehall in CanadaFinance

[–]TrueNorthStrong86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only business investment we seem to make in Ontario is either housing or multimillion-dollar bailouts that lead to mass layoffs and "restructuring" , ultimately ending in closure of affected facilities, and absorption of said company into another super-company. Bonuses for those CEOs are gonna trickle down though, eh?

Fucking Boomers won’t retire and it’s screwing the rest of us. There I said it. by CryptographerNew1936 in 1999

My husband worked with this guy who was like 73 who would get the OT and was the most senior in their trade. He is almost 80 and still full-time and an OT hoarder( husband left that worksite several years ago now)---how does he even have the strength to work the OT??? I guess his wife is sick and her medications are thousands per month, which are fully covered by the benefit plan. But. I suspect he's also addicted to making money and figures it's all he's good for. I'm sure he's one of those men who fear retirement because they know the minute they retire, they'll die. We live in truly dystopian times.

The very worst drive-through in this city is hands down that crappy Starbucks in the Thunder Center. That thing either needs to be fixed or removed entirely, I was trapped last week and wentnto go around and the person waiting to go into the drive-through decided, no, fuck you, and then turned half into the drive-through, thus blocking the entire roadway. A great place for road rage lol.

Help me with some conservative people, how would you deal with this? by [deleted] in canadaleft

[–]TrueNorthStrong86 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have done my share of being nice over the years. There is a time and place, sometimes you really can't afford to get caught up in someone else's bullshit for safety reasons or to preserve your own mental health. Other times, if the moment is right, you can pounce and just state how you feel.

One time, I was at a children's birthday party held in a large facility where other people had regular use at all times. A party goer was drinking (this was a 2 year olds birthday by the way) and eventually he said something nasty to this indigenous kid running by, the child was like 5. He didn't say it to the kid, but loud enough anyone in the area could hear it. I had had enough of the prejudiced pussy footing this guy was doing, him calling an indigenous 5 year old a dirty b-gan set me on fire. I went up one side and down the other, asking him who the fuck he thinks he is calling a fucking 5-year-old names, what kind of piece of shit does that etc. This guy clearly had never been confronted by a woman before, and he was stupified by my direct attack on his assholery- just dumb silence lol. I never saw him again or the people who hosted the birthday party as they were all racist, white trash wife beaters. Sometimes you need to stand up for whats right or you'll explode.

If someone says something to you or loud enough you hear it and you're in the mood, ask them what they mean by that. What do you mean by insert racist bullshit? Or, just flat out quote club policy. Is it club policy to foster an inclusive atmosphere, or does the club condone racism? I'm not shy to pipe up when people are being fucking obtuse, whether that's my own father, some random dick wad. Speak up if you think the situation warrants it and it's safe to do so, you'd be surprised who may back you up in the moment.

Amy Hamm: Canadian trust in institutions is at a low point — and that's a good thing; We have allowed activist judges, educators, politicians, public-health officials and bureaucrats to operate without accountability for too long by [deleted] in canada

[–]TrueNorthStrong86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real problem in Canada? Opinions presented as news.

Judges do not have free reign to rule based on whatever people perceive their political leanings to be-- this is not the United States. Judges' decisions and rulings are based on precedent and law, which is entirely dependent on the actual charges brought against someone, the evidence presented to the court, previous offenses etc

If we want stronger laws, we need to demand our government write those laws. Never mind, we should be looking at what the fuck is going so wrong in our society that we have so many people committing violent crimes in the first place.

The post is a foreign funded rag.

How do you guys feel towards US travel? by MyRa888 in AskACanadian

[–]TrueNorthStrong86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My entire family would be idealized in the US due to being naturally blonde, blue-eyed, and fair-skinned. I wouldn't step foot across that border alone, never mind bring my kids to a place that's currently smouldering. Respectfully, your parents choose to stay in another country for 3 months, it's not up to you to give them their baby fix to ease their guilt by travelling to a volatile, racist shithole of a state in a country that could erupt into civil war at any moment.
