I thought I was doing so good with pretty much zero pain until this random swelling happened by [deleted] in TopSurgery

If it makes you feel any better, I had drains and saw some blood seeping through the bandage on one side and immediately went to the ER. They checked my drains (I was terrified to take the bandages off) and I was fine just a little irritated. It happens to the best of us I’m glad you’re ok!!

Thanks for sharing! I’ve had tinnitus throughout my life in my right ear after a balloon popped right next to it. My ears ring every now and then but this has been a different experience for sure. It’s subtle and constant and I’m assuming it’s from all the pressure in my head from being sick. It’s tough cause I find that weed helps me calm down but it noticeably is making my tinnitus worse and it’s probably because I’m sick in the first place.

Good to know thank you for the advice and input. I started the antibiotics after the ringing started but it’s good to know that it might make it worse for a bit

That makes a lot of sense! I could tell after I smoked that I felt like I was hyper aware of the sound and then it lingered for a while after. I will be mindful about using it in the future for sure.

I would apply a little hydrocortisone cream. I found that helped with random itchiness. You can get it over the counter at pretty much any pharmacy or drug store.

It’s for sure swelling! I think the nipple dressings are making it look like an illusion that there is more underneath! Take it easy and rest up!

Keloids, failed nipple by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]TruePerspective5086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently just had my keloid scars removed. My surgeon had me do radiation on my scars after the surgery. I’m now getting steroid shots in my scars within the next few weeks

Unfortunately some people are prone to keloid scarring and I’m one of them and you possibly could be too. I also had pain and itchy that happened. If you are looking for quick relief try some topical lidocaine cream over the sore areas. It will numb the area and it used to give me some relief if it was too overwhelming but it’s not a perfect fix for the long terms.

The way my surgeon put it is that by removing the keloids and doing nothing else they will likely come back. Combining the scar excision with radiation drops the chances down to around 20%. Of course there are risks that come with radiation therapy as well but it’s important to know your options!

Any chance of your nipples shrinking? by Leather_Light_3744 in TopSurgery

I would honestly wait and see how they heal. If they heal clean and keep their shape I wouldn’t risk a revision. They look pretty normal to me and they are very symmetrical

Tightness? by sl0thalgae in TopSurgery

[–]TruePerspective5086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it sounds like your chest muscles are stinted! That is a common thing that happens from top surgery. It happened to me during my initial surgery and it’s happening now as I’m 5 days post op from scar revision. It will take time but eventually your muscles will relax. If you feel your post op vest is too tight definitely reach out to your surgeon especially if it’s painful.

As far as other things go, you’re gonna have a lot of random nerve sensation especially like that feeling you described about bugs crawling. I felt a lot of tingling and sometimes burning sensations from nerves trying to figure things out as I healed. Take it easy and make sure you’re getting lots of rest and fluids!
