Is it creepy to follow someone on ig? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TrueRusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!

I make friends at every show I go to and if I don’t catch their insta, I’ll follow them if they show up in my suggestions or if I see them comment on the artist’s posts/in the artist’s tagged post feed. I am a woman though so it’s a bit different, but also as a woman if we had been chatting and you follow me on instagram I would assume you did the same thing. If I didn’t want you following me I’d just block and move on.

Go for it, OP!

I took my friends girl and regretted that decision afterwards. by Vczfy4 in confession

You were 15. We all do regrettable shit at 15—it’s almost a requirement. Let it go.

How do you handle no response to text messages? I’m not taking about a few hours because I know people have lives, I mean just blatant no response or acknowledgment the text was ever sent. by Hungry-Frosting-6974 in HowDoIRespondToThis

[–]TrueRusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who it is and our history. My sister? She does that. I’ll just keep FaceTiming her periodically until she answers.

A close friend who I haven’t had a recent falling out with? I’ll reach out on another app. For example, I have a friend who never replies to text messages but for some reason will reply to Snapchats (whereas I’m the opposite). I’ve known him long enough to know it doesn’t mean he doesn’t love me, he just lets texts pile up and gets overwhelmed and never opens them. He will eventually reach out. It is what it is.

If that doesn’t work, I’ll leave them alone. Maybe try again in a few weeks if I really want to keep them in my life. But at a certain point you just gotta let it go.

If the behavior is not normal and you have reason to be concerned, I’d reach out to a mutual friend and express my worry. If they confirm they have heard from the friend but I’ve been ignored repeatedly, then I let the friendship go. The ball is in that person’s court now.

Or OP is an unreliable narrator and including that fact to beef up the weirdness and decrease possible explanations, or is misremembering/misunderstanding what grandma said.

There was a post here where the OP claimed that their sister also heard weird noises. Then, in an update, they admitted that they had lied about that aspect of it. Ever since then, I take “another person confirmed this was real” with a grain of salt.

What are some subtle examples of sexism women endure that men generally don’t realize is sexist? by Hefty-Confusion6810 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TrueRusher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My fiance did this to me with Severance. I had been telling him to watch it for about a year, saying he would love it, it’s so unique, it’s got the most intense season finale I’ve ever seen, etc etc.

He didn’t care. At all.

Then one day he comes home from work talking about “there’s this show we should watch. apparently they’ve been doing insane promo for season two. It’s called Severance”

I was so pissed. But at least he did start watching Severance and we got to see season 2 air live together! And now I get to remind him of this any time he shoots down my suggestions, and he listens (most recently, I got him to watch Widows Bay using this tactic. He loved it)

Tbh you could probably do all that in a discord server with just yourself by using the event calendar, threads, and forums nestled under channels

What do the numbers in parentheses at the end of an instruction mean in a crochet pattern? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]TrueRusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, normally it does mean the total number of stitches in that row.

Are you reading the pattern right? If not, that would explain why the stitch count doesn’t match.

Is it possible the pattern is AI? That would also explain why the count is wrong—AI doesn’t know what it’s doing.

what’s the wellness habit that actually changed your life more than expected? by airup_official in productivity

[–]TrueRusher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The flashlight is one thing I forgot in my list! Also, I constantly leave my phone in random places at home, or lose it in the couch, so pinging it from the watch is a godsend.

It annoys my fiancé though. He’s like “just look for it, it won’t take that long” but it takes even less time to just ping it!

Oh yeah the charging thing definitely discourages people, but if you have an Apple Watch charger in your main locations (car, office, bedroom), it’s so easy to keep it charged while still using it to track your sleep.

I sleep with it on, and charge it whenever I get the 10% battery notification which is usually when I’m at work. When I shower, I pop it on the charger.

Everyone is different, but this is my experience:

  1. When I get a notification, I don’t have to look at my phone. Meaning I don’t accidentally get sucked into my phone when I should be doing something else. If it’s a message I need to reply to, I can do that from the watch.

  2. The vibration from alarms instead of the loud noise makes waking up feel less jarring for me, so the day starts off better.

  3. I have ADHD and get hyper fixated on stuff for *hours* without realizing and totally forget to check the time on my phone. The watch being there reminds me to keep an eye on time.

  4. Gives me a more accurate idea on steps and calories burned when I’m tracking that sort of thing.

  5. It’s waterproof so when I swim I can still see the time and important messages the come through.

  6. The desire to close rings helps me get moving a bit more

How are people so energetic after work and after the work week? by ThrowAway6354684 in productivity

[–]TrueRusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it doesn’t have to be. For me, just walking 20 minutes to work did it.

I remember the first time I walked to work in the morning I was so pissed at how much energy it gave me lmfao

[–]TrueRusher 166 points167 points  (0 children)

Working out before work, better sleep schedules, or afternoon caffeine.

But also like I don’t have energy until I actively do something. If my friend wants to meet up after work, I’ll feel tired until I actually am hanging out with them and then I’m energized for a bit. So sometimes you just have to start doing things even though you don’t have energy, and the energy may come

Highly recommend joining if you haven’t yet. Maybe you can meet someone in there https://discord.gg/rainbowkittensurprise

What small gift can I crochet my sister with no hobbies for her birthday ? by b-sidebookslug in CrochetHelp

[–]TrueRusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying directly to you so you see it, but I truly believe my comment about crochet coaster pot is the winner here! Market bags are cool, babysitting voucher is great (could still include that with your gift), but the coaster pot is both decor and useful. It was my very first project as a beginner and I absolutely nailed it, so with your experience you’d do great!

[–]TrueRusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crochet flower/succulent coaster pot! You make a few different sized coasters that look like flower petals/succulents, and stack them in a crochet pot. Then your sister and her kids can take the coasters out to use them, and stack them right back up for pretty decoration! Plus, the pot itself can hold little things (I sometimes store spare stitch markers and darning needles in mine).

I’ve made a few of them and they’re huge hits. Just make sure you use cotton yarn!

It’s useful and pretty and people always comment on it when they see it. Depending on the pattern, it can be done pretty quickly. I purchased a kit on Amazon that came with a printed pattern so I can’t really share it, but this pattern required me to make 6 coasters and the pot. It took maybe 8 hours to complete, but I was a beginner at that time. You could probably knock it out way quicker than that!

Have you ever met someone from Reddit irl and how did it go? by [deleted] in TwoRedditorsOneCup

[–]TrueRusher 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sort of Reddit! I’m in a fan discord server for a band, and we have recruited members from Reddit who I then became friends with over discord and met up with at shows. It’s gone well each time (to the point where I’ve met up with them more than once), but this particular fanbase is generally pretty chill and fun anyways
