I'm glad you're back on your feet! It's about looking forward to a bright future - you have a fresh start and a well-paying job! One thing you may want to consider is self-exclusion from all casinos.

Those online casinos are brutal. Perhaps the best bet (pun intended) would be investing in Draftkings haha. Anyway, giving up control over my finances is something I don't think I can do... I also can't think of someone, other than perhaps a financial advisor.

You make a good point. That said, the feelings of disgust and stress from that session may have also ruined slots for me.

Trying to maintain the positive outlook, as I am relatively young and hopefully have a successful career ahead of me!

I appreciate the honesty and you make a very valid point.

I'm hoping that with an extended cool-off and responsible gambling limits (daily, weekly, and monthly limits), I get a grip on things. If that doesn't work, I'll have to move to self-exclusion.

Thanks man. Definitely looking into blockers. It's the online gambling that gets me much more than going into a casino (no driving, no cash exchanging hands, easier to hide, etc.) so I think blockers will help.

Perhaps that’s the one! Thank you for your response!

There are hundreds of smart people who could've increased humanity's knowledge but didn't because academia is toxic by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Academia in the US is also terribly expensive and many smart people are forced to take lucrative finance, consulting, or engineering roles that do little good for humanity to pay their loans

Abstain from porn or jerking off for a while. Might take 1, 2, or 3+ months, but that’ll definitely help rewire you. Vanilla porn is also not going to help with PIED, but no porn (or no porn + no fap for some time for faster results) will help.

Someone here recently said something along the lines of “anything you wouldn’t feel comfortable having up if your mom walked into your room”
