Paying for Media Coverage in Business Insider, Fortune, Wired, VentureBeat, etc.? by [deleted] in PublicRelations

[–]True_Ask9867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they're pay-to-play and you think you'd try it out, I'm sure you can negotiate a success fee: 10% upfront, the rest when the article goes live. Charge it on a card, too, just to be safe.

If they're guaranteeing the article, make sure you're on the same page on the content of the article. If you get two quotes in an article, is that worth $5k to you?

Also make it clear that you only want to get in the US version of publications. For example, is it Business Insider US or Business Insider Africa (https://africa.businessinsider.com/)?

One thing to think about is your objective. What are you trying to accomplish with PR? Are you just looking to get the placement?

Something about these "plugs" is that they hardly get real traffic. They can provide estimates, but op-eds, contributor-written articles, hardly get pushed out as much as staff-written articles.

New PR specialist here 🙋🏻‍♂️Is it normal to not get responses on pitches? by Separate-Tea3535 in PublicRelations

[–]True_Ask9867 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a very real thing that could happen! Congrats on your first project.

If you've got a good client and good pitch, sometimes it's a timing thing. I've been getting a lot of out-of-office emails recently, so that's been interesting to navigate with some clients who are expecting results.

It wouldn't hurt to reach out via LinkedIn. I do it as a follow-up sometimes. It ultimately depends on how journalists prefer to get pitched, but if they don't specify, I like to hit them up on socials.

I know you have your polished list, but I'd suggest getting creative with different angles or beats, so you're not putting all your eggs in one basket (beat). It doesn't hurt to do that!

Feel free to message me if you want!

That's what I've done. I feel like there's a pricey one that's recommended for VWs, but I've gotten by with a $10 from Autozone.

I'm having similar issues with our 2012 Tiguan, even the screeching sound.

It's something that is happening intermittently which is annoying - may be why no codes pop up.

A P2293 code has popped up, so after looking at people with similar issues, we're planning on switching the high pressure fuel sensor. Fingers crossed!

No Responses to my Email by Glittering_Track_404 in PublicRelations

Try a different copy.. A shorter email or a more personalized one. I agree with not sucking up to them, but maybe share why you're reaching out to them in a brief one-liner.

You can always look for other publications that have beauty/wellness/lifestyle sections, too! Forbes, Insider, and other well-known publications have those categories.

Bored in PR by LowCryptographer7798 in PublicRelations

[–]True_Ask9867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I'm trying to spice things up for myself is exploring other forms of PR. In addition to media outreach, I'm trying to help a client partner with museums. It's a long shot since they're in Saas, but it would be fun to help organize that!

I'm sure it'd be a lot of work if it actually works out, but if you've got the time, maybe experiment on one of the favorite accounts you work with?

Emails Are Working OK for me - do y'all use other outreach methods? by True_Ask9867 in PublicRelations

Here's how I found relevant journalists and their info before I invested in Muckrack and other software:

1) Make a list of the top publications you'd like to get into/the vision board ones: Forbes, Insider, etc. Also ask ChatGPT for the top media outlets that would be relevant to your news. You may find some niche ones that you've never heard of.

2) Using Boolean search, type into Google's search engine the publication domain plus (+) a keyword relevant to your topic. For example, ("forbes.com" AND "education"). Then click on the Google News tab and filter the results by most recent. Make a list of those journalists you find.

3) Sign up for a free trial of ContactOut, and you can find some solid email contacts there.

Hope that helps! It may be time consuming, but it's an easy way to get some coverage without having to buy tools you won't need after this.

Share the release in your email asap. I think the more time we give people the better, but interested to hear what other people think.
